They have the best user accessible records keeping on the planet.). Too bad it wasn't a BBA card though. I know I owned a BBA X800 Pro 256MB card back then too, but I think I got it from Best Buy and haven't the slightest clue when I purchased it (nor can I look it up).

I bought 20 x800xtpe when they were supposedly vapor ware. I paid either $299 or $399 can't recall . But I remember it as same price as the 300. I know I paid $299. Ididn't relize they sold for that kind of price . NV and ATI were both kinda crooked back than on pricing. This is the card I beet all the AMD machines with AMD 64 onboard with . In its class many records fell lol. But I had the cards months befor others. Itwas my job to break records on that deal. Them were good days. I started getting free hardware .
But reflecting back I wouldn't do again. I had to mod the M/Bs and gpus Very deseptive practicies. But if you Modded the IC7 max Vdroop and memory voltage on a 3,2 p4c with Bh5 at 2-2-2-5 settings on turbo mode on M/b. @ 224 = right around 3.6 ghz . It was unreal . To my knowlegde I am only person to get 224 at 2-2-2-5 turbo engaged. with BH5 Bh5 had trouble above 219 few ever got that far. But with volt mod they wake up.

what I'm thinking is here is another dumb ars trying to get something out of his own mistake. Blowing out his card trying to OC it. We can sue anyone for anything but can they win is the question. I had cards blow out but I just purchased a new better card. Ati can send them refurbished card that is the same model that broke on him if it came down to it... lol I love reading the forms it cracks me up.

I got 2 FireGL z-128Mb AGP-Pro cards and at the time was highly pissed about the lack of HDCP when ATI clearly marketed the cards as HDCP compliant. At the time I was told to 'suck it up - sheet happens'.

I'm way past over it - I'm sure the invoice is still around and would love a new HD 4650 or two but I think I've got GREATER OUTRAGE at lawyers snagging $3.5mil.

And you'd be completely wrong. Did you bother to read a single post or link? This is about cards that were suppose to have HDCP and didn't. I guess you won't read this post either so...

Did anyone bother to read the usual class action fine print? Best case scenario, you get a free 4650. Worst case scenario, you get nothing.

Actually, (as usual), the best case scenario will be awarded to the lawyers involved...

The class is represented in this case by Scott A. Kamber and Michael J. Aschenbrener of KamberEdelson, LLC; and David C. Parisi and Suzanne Havens Beckman of Parisi & Havens LLP. These lawyers are called class counsel. Class counsel will ask the Court to award attorneys? fees and expenses in an amount not to exceed $3,500,000.

:| Utterly ridiculous amount. Knock two zeros off that and you get the figure they should be paid.

Yeah, fucking lawyers. They're in it for the money. This whole case is bogus if you ask me. The plaintives aren't even standing to get anything significant; the only ones who win is the lawyers.

yes, those stupid lawyers are only interested in money. The thing I love about ati is that they don't care about money at all. Must be because they still have so many canuks...

Has content actually been released that even uses HDCP? Does Vista properly support it? I suppose the fact that it may come out in the future may warrant damages, but come on...

This type of lawsuit is the last thing AMD needs right now. Perhaps they can pay for it with the intel settlment. :light:

Blu-Ray movies on the PC. Still a relative rarity but it's there. I have a Blu-Ray ROM drive but I use AnyDVD HD to bypass the HDCP crap.

The only ones who will really profit from this is the lawyers.

Also...I can't find my receipt for my X1900XT >_<

You would think that AMD could implement the feature via drivers, especially if software like that can hack it.

It seems so wasteful on so many levels to give users a new graphics card for this meaningless feature. TBH IMO Greenpeace should get involved here FWIW. The landfills don't need all those graphics cards. They should either compensate the users monetarily, or else figure out a way to fix it using software.

Thanks OP. I bought two ATI X850XT PE's in January 2006. Fortunately I have copies of the receipts because I make copies of all of my rebate submission materials. Here's hoping this works out.

I have a couple different ATi parts, BBA ones too, that would fall under this, still even have receipts for them, but I could never sink to the level of cashing in on something like this. This suit is to deal with the HDCP lies the PR department was spewing, how many people posting on these boards didn't know they were lies when they were stated?

I can understand if JohnQ walked into a BB and bought one of these boards along with a BRD expecting to watch movies on his PC why he should be entitled to another part, but all I'm seeing in this thread is a bunch of people trying to take advantage of a company that is a bit too close to the brink of collapse as it is.

Lawyers aren't the problem with our society, it's the fact that we have people who put them to work on this kind of BS that's the problem :(

You have to be a frothing at the mouth nVidiot to try and jump in on this scam, seriously.

I agree. I wouldn't take advantage of this crap because I don't give two shits about HDCP. It's disappointing to see so many people just trying to take advantage of the fact they'll get a free card because the one they have lied about a feature they probably don't need and didn't realize it had.

But note those who bought the product because of the specific feature and can't use it do have a right to claim this suit.

If 55,500 or fewer authorized claims are submitted, each authorized claimant will receive one Radeon® 4650 512MB PCI express graphics card for each authorized claim they submit. If greater than 55,500, but less than 71,501, authorized claims are submitted, each authorized claimant will receive one Radeon® 2400 256MB PCI express graphics card for each authorized claim he or she submits.

If greater than 71,500 authorized claims are submitted, each authorized claimant will receive a cash payment in the amount of his or her pro rata share of $3,000,000. For example, if the total number of authorized claims is 71,501, each authorized claimant will receive a check in the amount of $41.95 for each authorized claim he or she submits. The amount of any potential cash payment thus will vary depending on the number of authorized claims.

Class Counsel will ask the Court to award attorneys? fees and expenses in an amount not to exceed $3,500,000. These amounts will come from the amounts that ATI has agreed to pay to resolve this dispute.

Ha... the lawyer fees come from the amount ATI pays to the people harmed, the lawyer fees are not to exceede 3.5mil, the total amount ATI agreed to put forth is 3 mil.
Lawyers win.

I think you need to read the settlement a little more. They are seeking an initial wire of 1 million, followed by another 3 million. The amount of money set aside for the claimants is under 500K, while the lawyers get the other 3.5 mil.

Then again, I could be misreading it.

so the lawyers get 4.5 million and the claimants getting 0.5 mil (split between all tens of thousands of them) according to what you read?

I can't believe it's taken 3 years to settle this. It seems pretty cut and dry. I wonder if criminal charges will be filed?
