Another corrupt investigation. This is one of those things where you'd think the other cops would just laugh in that idiot cop's face over this incident, but they're actively trying to screw someone innocent over.

and it's not just some petty crime, it's something pretty major they are trying to charge him with

Parente, 6'1" and armed with his duty pistol, claimed to be so afraid of Hitchcock — a gray-haired, fairly out-of-shape man in a Hawaiian shirt — that Parente feared Hitchcock would snatch the shotgun from his fallen motorcycle.

I couldn't possibly roll my eyes hard enough.

Someone needs to take out billboards all over Redondo with that picture and the caption "OFFICER DOWN? LOL"

And then have a web address for his defense fund and the story.

Hitchcock should have phoned 911 because someone ran into the back of him...

I hope he files a civil suit against the officer, Police Department and the DA's office for wrongful prosecution, wrongful arrest and just plain douchbaggery.

As much as I hate the constant lawsuits in our society, this is absolutely necessary in this acse.

Sounds like both sides are lying. The officer says the gut cut him off; other witnesses say the BMW driver didn't change lanes.

The BMW driver said he "instinctively hit the brakes to see where [the siren] was coming from," but he said he saw the officer next to him at the intersection between the lanes. Unless the police use super quiet stealth motorcycles I find it hard to believe that a guy in a convertible wouldn't be aware of the officer's location the entire time from when the light turned green to when the officer turned his siren on. If he hit his brakes excessively hard, I would agree that he was trying to cause the officer to hit him. His demeanor after the accident would confirm that opinion, but I can't trust the officer's account of his demeanor if he lied about being cut off.

So excessively loud sounds from 10' behind you don't startle you?? What demeanor is it that makes you think he was trying to get the officer to hit him? I didn't catch any of that from the article.

Why do these douchebags on motorcycles think it's OK to just weave in and out of traffic and split lanes? I always crowd the center when I get near a light so they can't go past me.

IIRC lane splitting for motorcycles is legal in California but illegal in just about any other state

If I was aware of the presence of a police officer next to me, and he dropped behind me and immediately turned on his siren, no that would not startle me.

Regarding his demeanor, I was referring to the accusation that he asked "sarcastically" if the officer was alright. If that were true, it would be a point in favor of concluding that the accident was intentional. But as I already said, we can't rely on that if the officer lied about the guy changing lanes.

Can't imagine that anyone in their right mind would do this. A cop just rear ended you and ended up in your car. I think bricks would shat by the driver.

"Parente was reported to have "soft tissue" injuries"

""The assault has caused me some intimacy problems with my spouse," he wrote at the end of his report."

BWAHAHAHA! Fucked his junk up

Well good for you I'm not quite sure how you suppress your reflexes (lights wouldn't startle me, but the siren...). Usually police officers next to me don't pull me over, they usually stay next to me. I find the sarcasm hard to believe given that the officer lied and that the man handed him his radio. All in all this just reads as officer got embarrassed and decided to take it out on the guy he was pulling over.
