You LOL you lose. 'Officer Down'

Link does not load.

EDIT:

Kept clicking it. Finally loaded. What an article. Cop obviously wrecked himself and is trying to blame the other person.

Wow, that is total BS 😡

I know, huh? That BMW driver could have killed that police officer.
As a BMW driver for 30 or so years, I always thought it was common knowledge that one of the most common accidents to BMW's was rear end damage. They stop so well that those behind them crash into the back of the Bimmers.
I hope "Hitchcock" has a good supply of soap-on-a-rope...he's gonna need it.

cue ATOT cop hate

that actually sounds well-deserved, assuming we're getting the whole story from this article

how? the guy had a police siren suddenly blasting about 8' from behind him while going around 15 mph in an open convertible... that sort of shock from noise is going to cause a reaction....

Good god, did they republish an Onion article or something?

If I'm in my squad tailgating someone and I light it up and they slam on their brakes and I rear end them, it's no question I'm at fault just like that moron cop. Good lord.

Sounds like the officer is still nursing a bruised ego. Pretty ridiculous though that it has gotten this far; crap like this gives the police a bad name.

Article clearly states the cop admitted he was 2-3 feet behind the car. Rules of the Road are what we are held to. Cops should be too.

Every time I've been pulled over the cop has tailgated me before turning on the lights.

Even if the car suddenly stopped the cop should not be following closely that close for that to be a problem. Basic common sense not to tailgate. The article said the cop was following closer than the police guidelines.

Parente was, by his own written admission, only two to three feet behind Hitchcock when he activated his siren, far closer than law enforcement training guidelines.

Also:

After that, Redondo Beach Detective Mike Strosnider invited Hitchcock to a let's-be-friends lunch at Subway on the pretext that the investigation was over. It wasn't. Strosnider secretly recorded the lunch in hopes of capturing incriminating comments, but came up empty, according to his own report.

What a retarded cop.

Not to mention the cop was tailgating no more than 3 feet behind the bmw.

Not like it's the first time cops have fabricated stuff...
And they wonder why people don't really trust cops anymore(not that they really ever did). 😛

the cop hate sounds well deserved, guess i should have been a bit more clear on that

What happened to... "you're always at fault if you rear end someone in a traffic collision?"

Oh yeah, unless you're a cop.

on a related note, this is from last night's news:
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2011/02/14/i-team-woman-hurt-at-07-boston-marathon-suing-police/

realistically, this could be considered 50/50. since the resulting investigation was complete fiction, the officers should be hung upside down by their balls.

Stuff like this, and to a lesser extent the OP (only pics) are the reason why police don't want you recording them anymore. Not saying all cops are shady like this, but it only takes a few to give them a really bad image and lose the publics trust.

what a douch of a cop. hope this story goes on national news. its bullshit that they would try to charge the guy with anything. The cop has a bruised ego so i would love to see him made fun of nationaly...and often.

Another corrupt investigation. This is one of those things where you'd think the other cops would just laugh in that idiot cop's face over this incident, but they're actively trying to screw someone innocent over.
