www.StorageReview.com has drive speed (and heat) comparisons for most drives, you'll find a few good articles here under the "Storage" tab at the top of the page but not the drive-by-drive coverage.

I don't worry too much about the slight differences in real world performance between different 7,200 RPM dirves. I ended up buying Samsung Spinpoints for the desktop I build last year because they run cool and quiet, and are cheaper than the Seagates. But Seagates are a good choice too.
 
I have the 200gb version of that drive and it is great. I also have the new 160gb with NCQ and it is noticably louder than the 200. The drive you linked should be the same as the 200 and it is quieter than the newer drive.
 
I do like that HDD. It looks really nice.
But I hope they replace the cover plate before shipping it to you. :shocked:
