my SIL is abusing welfare. seh just had a kid. she is not married so she is claiming its just her and the child. since she is not working she is getting her mortgage paid for (heh mortgage. its a loan ona $3k trailer LOL but welfare pays for the lto rent), food stamps, etc.

when the fvckign guy is LIVING at the house. though he has a questionable job. he works a few days a month but they claim they make like $5k a month. they also have a huge duel axle truck.

I called t he fraud number but they want me to give my name, number etc.

they need a anemones way to report.

Why work when the government will pay you not to work. There is no limit to it. In my hometown, there is a lawyer who is buddies with a certain judge. Between those two and about $2000, they will get you complete disability benefits. Everyone knows about it. The system is broken.

Do we ignore the broken system or fix it? Limit welfare to 5 years for your LIFE. Disability claims should be reevaluated by a different doctor EVERY year. Problem solved and we will have more production members of society and STILL helps the people that need help. Why is it wrong to fix the system while allowing the people who need people to get it.

I guess my mom raising me while only making 18K/year without any government assistance trained my libertarian mind wrong.

Exactly, the welfare system is complicated enough that there are too many loopholes.

The welfare system would cost less money if we made it so that you could only purchase food and if you were limited by how much aid you could receive. Five years should be plenty of time to get on your feet.

No one has ever said that it is wrong to fix the system. What most people argue against is scrapping the whole system, which is an idea entertained by many less educated or uncaring Republicans.

I like the WIP program that I've seen, where basically they get "coupons" for things like milk, eggs, vegetables, etc... Sure, it takes a long time for them to be checked out in the store, but it's nice to know that it's going to some good food.

People usually find themselves 'poor' by making a series of 'poor' decisions over the course of their life. Yes there are some hard luck exceptions and some circumstances that contribute to people making those poor decisions.

The government can't easily enable these people to make better decisions. Good parenting could have. Still poor parenting just begets more poor parenting for the next generation. Poor lifestyle decisions are looked upon as examples by kids.

Good parents need to advocated for kids, fight for every advantage for them. Welfare is not an advantage for kids when its just handed out. Parents are still lazy and little advantage is imprinted onto the kids lives for all the money except maybe a sense of entitlement they did not even have to work for.

How does that change? I'm not sure. Maybe it needs to start with Kur reaching over the counter and slapping some common sense into that lady.

here in IL we have WIC (WIK?) something like that. same idea. you get coupons that are only used for milk, eggs, veggies, baby food.

but its only for women who are pregnant, breast feeding or the children (under 5 or 6).

last year the Governor tried to get it mandatory that everyone who has a child is eligible. Not sure if it passed.

The funny think I've discovered about WIC, at least in our experience, it that they don't seem to support breast-feeding at all. They seriously tried to shove formula down our throats and every packet had coupons and/or free samples of formula. Breast-milk is free?!?! Why do you they to force you to buy something that isn't even as good for the child? I'll never understand that. Maybe it's different elsewhere though.

My wife's sister's in-laws...my sister-in-law's in-laws, I guess....anyway, they are so worthless that they sell their food stamps for cash, because you can't buy cigarettes, beer, and drugs with them.
So if they have, say, a 100 dollar credit, they'll sell it for 30-40 bucks. So the SIL buys them and goes grocery shopping. This happens quite frequently.
They won't work because they know if they start making any money, they'll lose their "benefits" from the government.

Lots of folks up that way base what jobs they work and how much they make on whether it'll allow them to keep their government money. Wife's sister is working now, but won't make the husband go work because it'll give them too much income and they'll lose some government bucks they get for their terrorist kids. That's just the mindset folks have in some places. They'd rather live in a slum or run-down area than actually work and pay their own way.
