That would rock hardcore!! Could you imagine? :D Blasting off, giving the commands to seperate boosters, external fuel tank, yaw maneuvers, shutting off main engines, rendevousing with the space station, performing repairs on satellites, delivering supplies, tackling re-entry, landing, etc. etc.

Then before hand, you could do all the training and stuff

Ahh, I could have fun for days on end :D

There was one back in the later 80's. Flying the shuttle sounds like fun but in reality it's not. That puppy is controlled by computers on the way up and the way back down except for final approach on landing.

I would be solely responsible for a Challenger accident every time I launched if they left me at the helm =)

Of course think of all the fun that you would have when trying to launch..

Wait 24 hours

<Storm Delay>
Wait 24 hours

<Loose valve>
Wait 24 hours

And so forth

I remember the sim back in the 80's... it was entertaining at times. I was inspired by that dumb movie Space Camp :) But yeah, it was amusing burning that baby up all the time.

Somewhere I still have the diskettes for MS Space Sim. Pretty cool sim, actually. It let you land on any planet you wanted and you could fly around in different kinds of ships, including the shuttle.

That would be cool to be able to fly the re-entry sequence and shoot approaches at mach 3, definitely!!!

Like all flight sims, cool for the first 2 hours...

You know what it's like...you remember that game, Lander? An old M$ arcade game? It'll be like that...over, and over, and over...

There was another one for the regular NES that I remember

I remember how you would do all these stupid games to get into orbit, and you had missions, and one of them was to deploy a satelite, or work on a spce station (which was like 3 or 4 parts) and stuff like that

I'm trying to remember the name

If you think Microsoft Flight Simulator is slow paced, a Space Shuttle sim would be so slow you wouldn't be able to stand it. You're going really fast up there, but it's not Star Wars people. They never go more than like 1 relative MPH faster than anything when they do the interesting stuff.

M$ space sim sucked. Very boring though the nebula backdrops were pretty well done for that time period.
