Windows 10 actually. But yeah, 8 and 8.1 were an improvement for multiple monitor setups, and 10 now has virtual desktops (which I know, I know, has been in Linux and Mac OS since forever).

I use Xubuntu on my other desktop, but currently waiting on a replacement drive (SSD in main one died , so I swapped drives).

FWIW you can do that in XP/7 with DisplayFusion:

Also lets you save desktop icon layout, which is huge if you have a laptop & dock to dual screens.
