DRY SOCKET!!

muthafvcking pieces

had all 4 wisdom teeth removed on thursday. about 2 days ago i noticed a nasty taste (fvk) but it sorta tasted like just some food that i had recently eaten might have just like got stuck in there.

so i waited. taste doesnt go away.

call up. its DRY SOCKET IT HURTS LIKE A BIATCH

**warning, not for faint of heart**

ok drysocket is caused when the blood clot that is forming to heal the area where surgey was done in your mouth at fails, and allows the bone to become open. the nasty taste you get is due to the blod clot dissolving in your mouth (yes it tastes pretty nasty).

to fix it, you go in, they squirt benedine into your mouth where the blood clot is to wash it away.

they then stick some surgical guase (sp.?) with like a clover type taste/smell (numbing) into the OPEN hole in your mouth down as far as they can.

then 3 days later (well this saturday i will go back) you go back and have them remove the gauze and hopefully the area has healed up.

well, that sucks. but vicodin is pretty cool.

Sorry to hear it! I had all 4 taken out in 2000 and the discomfort of the procedure and recovery was greatly exagerated. I just got lucky I suppose

That sucks. Never had that happen when I had mine removed. All four taken out at once, bottom two were impacted. Stayed awake for the whole thing, quite interesting. Ended up using the pain killers for recreation instead of pain. Only annoying part was the swelling.

That clover thing is oil of clover, a well known pain killer for tooth ache.

my one wisdom tooth root was so deep it went up into my sinus's and I Was bleeding out my nose till it clotted up.

all of mine required breaking the bone, and pulling the pieces out a bit at a time... not to mention the novicaine wore off when he was partway done with the third tooth.... he didnt stop and i had to deal with extreme pain for the 3rd and fourth tooth.

vicadin and valium did jack squat for me.... i dont think he gave me enough

its only like a 12-15% chance for ANY type of infection (there are like 50 infectious bugs in ur mouth)

and like 3-5% for dry socket, (damn those) and a bit higher for women

You only got 1 dry socket... I had two! So count your blessings!

That is why you use that washer thingy that the doctor gave you. When I had mines removed (all four) I used that thing constantly every single time after I ate ANYTHING. You should see how much crap comes out when you swish the water back there. A lot of little particles comes out. The doctor said I had a little dry socket but it wasn't too bad. It did hurt a little though. Good luck and you should really try to use that tool your doctor gave you.
