You know what is really freaking depressing, yet interesting?

Using the SSDI to see which of the kids you grew up are no longer living.

I was poking around trying to trace relatives and got sidetracked for a moment. It occurred to me to enter my birth year and hometown. I suddenly feel very mortal looking at this list of names. :\

just 1 guy at age 24 from my year... no wonder the world's population keeps growing...

btw, there was a rumor that one of my hs associates died in the tower on 9/11... I don't see him on this list. But then again, the zip field asks for "last residence" which may not be correct.

They don't have everything. One of my best friends died the year I graduated and he's not in there either.

It's way cooler to put it your social security number (or at least parts of it) and see which numbers are dead. 😀 122 are dead in my XXX-XX-Blank

I found a guy with only two digits difference with my SSN (the two in the middle) who has my first name (not a common american name).

He died in 1984, at 96 years old 😵

I found a guy with one number off (the SSN JUST before mine). Creepy... Died in 1990 at age 22.

several people I went to high school that died aren't on the list. There are apparently only 2 people born between 1980 and 1990 that have died around me.

This is shocking info. I didnt know some people that I went to HS are now gone including:

NIX, KRISTA P 14 Nov 1970 11 Mar 2011 (V) 40 - she was a cheerleader

HERRERA, DANIEL 16 Nov 1970 12 Apr 2010 (P) 39 - student

Considering I nearly died from malnutrition after bowel surgery last October, I know life is fragile and short. Thank God for heaven - the body may be gone, but the soul lives on! ()🙂

Hm, looks like people with my last name have a reasonable chance of living into their 80s or 90s, assuming they survive past the cluster that seem to die before 40. 😱

Would be better if it told you COD.
For some reason this made me think of my old sig. 😀

Sixteen hours after deciding to end it all and writing the note, I realized that my plan for a slow but painless suicide by masturbation was not working.....

Do you go to hell for wanking yourself to death? :hmm:

WTF? I put in my last name and SS# and it says there are no matches!

edit: ooops, I just realized this is for the Death Index. I guess it's good that I'm not on that list. lol
