This topic was inspired by the incompitent techs one... I hate it when I call for tech support for something, and I actually know more than the tech support guy knows... GRRRR, that erks me... can't think of any examples of the late... Have you ever had this? Or since I know as much as I do, should I not even try tech support when having a problem?
 
haha I've seen it so bad that my MOM knew more than the tech. That is just sad. When the day that my DAD is smarter than the tech. Then it's time to I don't know but that would be bad.
 
I took one of my PCs to work because we needed a test system for a few days. After that I took it home, the guy from MediaOne came to install the cable modem. He sat down and started dicking around the PC and I just watched TV. After an hour I realized he had a really confused look on his face. I has Windows NT Server 4.0 installed and he only had instructions for Windows 9x. He was completely lost. I just asked for what needed to be entered and did it myself.

I can't remember what it was, something about my cable service... I think they tried telling me I would be unable to share my broadband w/ routers etc., and I was like "watch me", then I shut my mouth cuz I realized how illegal it was...
 
My cousin called me the other day with a problem because she had called this place that had sold her new computer and said that she knew the guy was going to be of no use because she was telling him stuff and it sounded like he was reading out of a book. Not to mention she was paying for the call, it oughta be against the law for them not to have toll free tech support. I told her next time she had a problem to call me and if I couldn't help her I would give her my fiance's work number.
