I was at the store the other day... I had a whole cart full of groceries. My good planning means that I only have to go to the store about once every 10 days. However, my time is wasted by all these idiots who can't plan ahead. Every lane seems to have 3 or 4 people purchasing only 3 or 4 items. The guy ahead of me had 4 items. Sure, it only took him about 45 seconds for those 4 items. That's 10 seconds per item. Me, I had over 100 items in my cart. Granted, I wrote a check to pay for my items, which took about 30 seconds, but still, the whole transaction only took 4 minutes, or less than 2 1/2 seconds per item. The idiot in front of me took 300% more time than me on an item by item basis. Not only that, but he was whining about the person in front of him taking too much time!

I think that the express lane should be the ONLY lane these poor planners are allowed to use. They can stand in line with the 20 other idiots who can't plan ahead, all with the smug look on their faces as they whip out their debit cards, believing that they aren't inconveniencing everyone else just because their payment method takes 10 seconds less.

I personally cant stand the people that have to buy 100 things at once and hog the lines. Youre complaining about the people in front of you, when the quickly growing line behind you is full of people who want to strangle you.

To be more specific with my point (parody), it's to point out that people like the OP in the other thread (and all the people who agree with him) seem to believe that everyone in the world should do the exact same thing, behave the exact same way. Anyone who doesn't do as they do inconveniences them. They forget that they're inconviencing others just as well. It's all give and take, so quit whining.

Yes, it's a parody. But no, I'm not like that... Actually, I'm one of those people who pops into the store 3 or 4 times a week. I prefer to purchase my meats the night I'm going to cook them. Ditto for hamburger rolls/hot dog rolls. However, I never whine about what the other people are doing, or how they're paying for their groceries. It's something I put up with for the convenience of stopping by the store several times a week.

Most of the people on ATOT are too young to remember when they had to manually type in every price, rather than scan the prices... checking out took much longer then, and no one whined, except at xmas time and thanksgiving, when there were 12 people in each line and each had a full shopping cart. There were corner grocery stores for those minor shopping needs. If you went to the big grocery store, you bought a cart full of groceries. There weren't "express lanes" back then.

Nice topic, but your on the wrong side. You want a real topic, shop more you may drop those pounds you have been putting on by only walking to the fridge and writing down your grocery list. My grandfather goes once a day to keep healthy and get out of the house. Maybe you should think about it.

You missed a few posts in the thread :p

Even last night, I shopped just for one meal. (heckuva expensive meal too...) - cantalope, strawberries, grapes, blueberries for the fruit salad, boneless skinless chicken, sirloin steak, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, peppers for the kabobs. Lots of leftovers though.
