repost, and you're an idiot.

this isn't a post about the deep impact show, it's about how wasteful we are...

who's the idiot now?

330 million dollars is nothing. This was a low budget mission.

Know how much people spent on Earth-bound fireworks last year? I bet it was more than 330 million dollars.

That's a waste.

Space research is not a waste, nomatter how narrowminded you are.

I see many great uses for $330M...

for example, use that towards landing a human on mars? just a thought...

given how inhabitable mars is, it would probably cost a lot more than $330 million to arrange such a launch.

price doesnt matter for this type of vital research
Exactly.

Knowledge is priceless, so the potential to gain knowledge is also priceless.

what could we possibly learn about an explosion? how the universe was born? BS, that's just one theory...

interesting... what if they had spent $300 million and somehow found incontrovertible proof that god created the universe? maybe that would be worth something to you, given your last sentence fragment.

I don't believe in GOD, so what now? 😀
what do you say when someone sneezes?

thats going to cost far more than $330 million bucks pal, just because you dont have the ability to understand what theyre doing doesnt mean its a waste, it means you should talk about something you can comprehend, like legos or ritz crackers.

What could we possibly learn by landing humans on another planet?

😛😉

Like I said, space research is not "worthless", nomatter how you look at it. It can only expand our understandings.

I give you that...but let's compare:

waste $330M on crashing a probe or

landing on Mars..

hmmm, I'll take Mars.

I know what people are going to say, it's going to cost more than $330M...no sh1t. I'm just saying it could be part of the budget.

when did I say it'll cost exactly $330M to land on mars? I said it could be used toward the mars landing project...as in part of the budget. now STFU! :|

I usually don't say anything 😉

What about his second point?

I'm sure someone told Nikolaus Otto that his invention was worthless while he was conjuring it in his mind.

It is not a waste of money simply because you don't get it.The scientists working on the project do get it, obviously.

They have to work out equations bigger than your penis on a daily basis. So just get over it already. 😛

that's the Area 51 slush fund. it ain't missing - it's in cayman islands, duh! 😛

I'm sorry, OP, but you seem like quite an idiot.

As mentioned already, it wasn't just for "fireworks" it was for exploration and studies. There's a reason for it.

As if it was only for the show or something.

It is entirely possible that we will glean new knowledge that will lead to technology that will bring NASA and the world as a whole a lot more than 330 million dollars, which is merely a drop in the bucket..

[deleted irrelevant comment]

The nasa guy was saying yesterday that there is a strong theory that a comet sprayed water onto Earth and would have cause life forms to begin. He said that if they get no other info from this, which is nigh on impossible, that it will at the very least comfirm or debunk this theory.

🙂

All of Live 8 participants: Congrats! Through dedicated work and relentless effort, we raised over 10 million!

America: YAY FIREWORKS PURTY, MUST BOOM MORE! WE SPENT 333 MEELION!

we've already been brainwashed into spending over $151 BILLION in iraq and countless lives. for oil and attempting to free ungrateful people who rather have us dead.

what's 300 million for science??? drop in the bucket.

Exactly. People won't complain about the billions spent in Iraq but they'll complain about a fraction of a billion spent on science. That is how you know America is the most wasteful country in the world.

ya, that's right, that's how much NASA spent for for its Deep Impact Space Probe... :|

That $333 million also went into the American market and gave jobs to a lot of engineers, scientists, and workers.
