Here's how I spent my canadian money over the last 5 years for my cinema room in the basement:

Marantz SR5005 (refurb): $714.30
Paradigm Monitor 11 V6 (new): $1,450.00
Paradigm CC-390 v5 & Atom Monitor v5 (used): $580.00
Outlaw LFM-1 Compact (subwoofer, new): $531.41

BenQ W1070 (refurb): $744.65
DIY 125" screen: ~$40.00
Blu-ray player (new): ~$75.00
Cables, etc: ~$75.00

Total: $4,210.36, which leaves around $800 for a couch (still using an old sofa bed). I didn't really have a set budget, but I'll probably end up right at the $5,000 mark!

I love Paradigm. They once upgraded me from this:

to this monster that i'll have until she dies:

Best service I have ever had in my life.

Edit: I bet they are kicking themselves for giving me a $1500 product upgrade. 😱

Do these projectors put off much fan noise? I am thinking about putting one in the finished portion of the basement in this condo I'm about to move into, but it would be right above our heads ceiling mounted.

The fan noise is audible, much quieter than stuff like furnace and AC.
Not as loud as my Antec P180 which has 120mm fans
Quieter than my PC with slow 230mm fans.

It's rated at 29db, or 27db in eco/low power mode. (I run in eco since it's more than bright enough for my needs.)

The Mitsu was rated pretty similarly (31db or 25 in eco mode)

The benq in eco mode is brighter than the mitsu was in standard mode.

Anyhow, it's hard to say if the noise will be an issue or not, for me the 27db is acceptable

varies from projector to projector but most modern ones the sound is negligible. i have mine sitting up above my head and i can't hear it while watching movies or tv. but i also have my shit pretty loud. although in quiet scenes i can hear my amp for my subs in the closet that is further away over the projector fan noise.
