You guys think it's necessary to have screen protectors on your touch screen devices?

I wasn't sure if this goes in the apple section since it's about an iPhone 4 or in the phone section since it's about phones so I put it here heh. Anyways, what say you?

Kinda sick of mine, it's getting scratched up and they're fucking expensive. Can I take it off or is it best to leave it on?

I see videos of gorilla glass on youtube and those guys are taking steel nails to the screen and trying their hardest and nothing. With my luck, 5 seconds along with a single coin in my pocket would break the glass.
Protector for me.

Nope. I have gorilla glass on my Galaxy S and I take my keys and draw on my screen for fun.

I never use them. I'm extremely careful with my phone, and it always stays in my right front pocket by itself. In the 13 months I've had my EVO 4G, it got 2 very small scratches on the screen that I can barely even notice unless I'm looking for them. Not sure how it happened, either.

So for me, no, not necessary. Do you have a habit of dropping phones? Or are you careless with them?

Gorilla Glass is awesome. My old Droid had it, and I loved it. You seriously never have to worry about getting the screen scratched. Not sure if the iPhone 4 has Gorilla Glass though.

I think my EVO has GG.. but I'm not taking any chances.. I keep a zagg on mine.. lifetime warranty and if i get a bubble/scratch they replace it no questions asked..

If your device has gorilla glass, no, Otherwise I would use a Zagg Invisible Shield.

EVO doesn't have GG

you're more likely to scratch the screen in your pocket or desk drawer or what have you than while using it...unless you try and navigate it with your car keys or something.

I was a fan of the new hardened glass technologies but my latest iPhone 4 showed permanent damage on the screen quickly. I have a perfect installation of a huge Green Onion Supply AG2 anti-glare screen protector on my Alienware M11x but I had to use a hole punch to cut holes for the microphones (r3 model has dual noise-canceling mics).

on my iphone 4 i have an antiglare film that acts as a screen protector as well. i mainly got it to reduce finger print smears/smudges. i'm thinking about removing it as it reduces the clarity of the screen. on my ipad2 i'm going protector-less.

Wrong.

My Evo screen is flawless after 13 months of ownership which is more than I can say about my shitty Palm Pre- which was a scratch magnet with its shitty plastic housing.

Hmm. That has me wondering if some units in the initial shipment didn't have Gorilla Glass. When they launched, it was pretty much confirmed that they didn't have Gorilla Glass, by the Corning website, and by random people doing scratch tests.

Mine definitely does not have Gorilla Glass, and if it was bricked, I'd very easily prove it.

Haven't used one on my iPhone 4 and the screen looks flawless. However, there might have been visible wear if I hadn't swapped my phone about 4 times in a year for various issues. I'd still protect the back. For the back, I got the Zagg LeatherSkin, which works great with the Apple Bumper.
