A friend of mine lives in a nice area of Newport Coast and he received this letter on his doorstep from one of his neighbors recently.

What a self-entitled asshole. It's everyone else's fault but mine! WHAAA WHAA WHAAA!!!

FTR-My friend had 3 cars when he and his wife bought their house and he had to sell one of them plus get rid of a bunch of junk he had in his garage to make sure he could fit both of their cars in their garage.

So what is his fault, exactly, besides owning too many cars without the means to properly house them?

I'm really asking here, as this is way out of my understanding (both that a renting family feel the need to own four cars, and that it's somehow a problem to the neighbors).
 
The landlord didn't do that great of a job, or the tenants didn't list all their cars on the application... It's pretty common in hoas to have parking restricted to garages only. Many don't even have guest parking... Furthermore he was supposed to have received hoa bylaws from the landlord including the parking regulations.

The fact that he was ticketed indicates he wasn't supposed to be parking where he was.

Pretty much all the hoas without dedicated driveways (which is most of them) here say no parking in front of garages. Some don't even let you work on your cars outside of the garage.

Renting in the wrong area and blaming everyone but himself for renting in the wrong area. Certain areas in Socal are very manicured and controlled. Those choosing to live there, are choosing that control because they don't want the eyesores, etc.

Put another way with a terrible analogy this guy is like moving into a retirement zone then throws parties and wonders why everyone is pissed.

Newport is huge, and if he wanted park his cars all over the place, maybe he should save up and buy a house in a non-controlled area so he can be the boss...

Personally I fucking hate HOAs.
 
They had a idea that parking was a issue. They seems they did not ask to make sure from the landlord.

if its in the rules then they should have asked (actually they should have been given a copy) of the rules before they signed.

I don't see how it's anyone else's problem but theirs. If they can afford 4 $100k they can afford to buy a place to put them.
 
I like how they start with "make it super quick" and then proceed on a 2 full page rant where the point of it is basically they didn't do the proper research regarding if they could fit their cars or not.

He rented a house with a 2 car garage and zero driveway and expected to be able to park 3 cars in the guest parking 24/7. Because he's a baller yo!

The guest parking is on the street and clearly marked. It specifically states, no overnight parking. The HOA also states that you must park your cars in your garage or your driveway. No parking on the street.
 
Choose not to live in a HOA. Everyone knows that if you choose to live in one there are people that are very anal about the rules. Don't like the rules, don't move into one.

The garages are too small, our cars are too big, my wife and daughter don't know how to park a car, it's a design flaw, it's the neighborhood, it's my neighbors, my daughter has a fear of coyotes, I can't sell my cars because I'm' $40k upside down in them, I'm a small business owner who needs to make payroll! Won't someone please help me!!! I don't deserve this! WHAAA WHAAA WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

I've seen the cars, he's not lying, they are nice cars. They deserve better than him though... being left out on the street at night. Won't someone think of the expensive German cars!!! :'(

And he throws around the cost of his vehicles several times as if that makes any sort of difference. Just because they're nice cars doesn't mean he can do whatever he wants.

Is your friend the HOA president, or is this person giving this letter to everyone?

No, he's not the HOA president. I'm not sure who else got the letter.
 
that was painful to read. i'd think someone who is that wealthy would have a pretty good education, but damn that is written so poorly and all over the place.

Entitled asshole. Didn't do his homework, now it's everyone else's fault. Explains how he's underwater on his leases.
 
Just to show off... now his family has to live all pathetically, worrying about where to park, hiking to their cars etc lmao. Ride sharing just to park. Brilliant.
 
They must have a bunch of junk packed in their garage because the garages are decent size.

In fact, the 6 series is shorter than the car my friend drives now and he has plenty of room to park in his garage.
 
why is he renting? Do HOAs especially have problems with renters?

Is it harrassment? Because everyone seems to be glazing over that part.

The letter was a mess and really the last was the only paragraph that mattered.
