He got a grand total of $2 out of it."
Moore said he had $20 more in his front pocket that the robber missed.

Um...if the guy that got attacked had been carrying, he would have just gotten it taken by the robber. Not like he had time to react.

Yeah, but if another patron (edit: or employee) of the establishment had a weapon on them do you think the guy would of got away?

Yes...having CCW does not turn you into James Bond, the vast majority of people would have frozen...the rest would have just let the guy run away. Only an idiot would start opening fire in the middle of a McDonalds over a two dollar mugging and an unarmed guy running away. Of course that's the problem with CCW, the people most likely to get it are the people most likely to think they are Dirty Harry and turn a situation where some guy got hit and robbed for $2 into a situation where a bunch of people die.

Agreed. publically. In his own neighboorhood with his family being forced to pull the trigger.

Have any statistics to back that up?

Of course not, this is ATOT
But some of what I said is just common sense...anybody who's had to use a weapon (any weapon) in anger knows that having it and USING it are two very different things. And I think my point that starting a shootout over $2 and a broken jaw being hardly the smart thing to do is rather obvious as well. But you're right, I have nothing to back up my last point there...except the kind of people I've observed who think the solution to all violent crime is everyone having a concealed carry...like halik and several others in this thread. CCW is not a solution to situations like this, chances are good it will end up worse than it was before. The fact that it was proposed anyways sort of proves my point.
But I'm willing to admit it if I'm wrong...are there stats to back up the assertion that violent crime always goes down as a result of pervasive concealed carry?

Wouldn't you get charged with manslaughter (is that 'negligent homicide' or 'murder 3' or something in the states?) for shooting an unarmed man in a crowded room?
