The second best way to eat canned cheese is on a Ritz. The very best way to eat it is not at all. Kids stop eating spray cheese around the same time they stop eating live worms and mud pies. I think that probably says all you need to know about the stuff.

I just got back from a quick grocery run. Walmart had Easy Cheese in four or five flavors. I was tempted, but something like $3.80 for a can of sorta-cheese didn't make much sense when I could get a pound of half-decent extra sharp cheddar at Safeway for the same price.

I ate nong shim kim chi ramen with leftover sliced ribeye , carmelized onions topped with asparagus spears. I added some cock sauce and soy sauce and it was fuckin amazing. I'd actually go to a joint that could make noodles as good as that.

That's funny. I've been watching a pretty entertaining YouTube channel, where the guy has a small obsession with instant ramen, so I was just looking at some ramen alternatives when I went grocery shopping last night. Pretty sure I saw the NongShim brand ramen. After the 25 cent a pack varieties that are sold by the truckload, I'm lost.

(This guy's channel is kind of like a less polished Alton Brown's Good Eats, except more humorous and more believable.)

 
1 pack of ramen noodles cooked up (chicken usually)
1 can of coconut milk
A couple big scoops of green curry paste
Toss in some cooked chicken
Toss in some shredded carrots
A squirt of sriracha

Not too shabby.
 
Shin ramen, add kimchi, protein (whether its left over chicken, sausage, literally any kind of meat), spinach, eggs

Put water in a pot, put in the kimchi and meat, bring to boil, drop in the noodles and cook for 2 minutes, add spinach, wait another 45 seconds, add egg, cook for another 2 minutes and 15 seconds, serve

Egg should have a runny yolk but ymmv

The guy is instant ramen noob. He doesn't even know how to cook it right or the proper cooking temp or the water ratio. Lot of research have gone into how to cook perfect instant ramen from the right type of cooking pot to the right type of stove. I ate two packs of instant ramen pretty much everyday during middle school and high school years. And I still eat it couple times a week. And my addiction is nothing compared to some of the hardcore people out there. I can afford to eat pretty much anything and know how to cook yet I still love instant ramen. I had instant ramen with snow crab leg for lunch today. There's no cure for instant ramen addiction.

Yes there is. Try better food, you'll be amazed how fast that addiction goes away. That's not "dressing up" cheap food, that's ruining expensive food. WTF would you take a delicate premium protein like snow crab and douse it in uber-salty ramen seasoning? Once it's soaked in that crap it could be a lump of cardboard and you would not notice the difference. You might as well dunk carviar in tapioca pudding or shave black truffles into your Hawaiian Punch.

If you like ramen, fine, eat it. There's just no reason to waste perfectly good crab like that.

Without addressing the "ramen seasoning" part, asian style crab is much more aggressively seasoned than it's american counterparts, and it tastes delicious.

ex) viet cajun style crab, salt pepper crab, typhoon shelter crab

I like aggressively spiced food too. But spices need to be used intelligently. If you're paying a premium for a specific protein that has a delicate flavor they I would assume that you want to taste that specific flavor, otherwise it doesn't make any sense to buy it. Crab is EASILY overpowered by almost any heavy-handed application of spice and if you add too much spice all you taste is the spice. It's impossible to taste whatever protein is underneath. If you want heavily spiced food then you're better off using pork or chicken. If you want to taste the crab treat it gently and if you don't want to taste the crab don't use it at all.

meh, asians eat aggressively spiced crab and taste the crab just fine. I mean FFS americans just lather that shit with butter and all you taste is butter.

That's the thing. You don't understand the ramen addiction because you don't suffer from it. I can eat the best food in the world and I would still crave instant ramen. I pack instant ramen in my travel luggage and eat it when I stay at 5 star luxury hotels on vacation.

As for the crab, it's just snow crab. It's $9.95 /lb and I have whole box of it.

Using couple of snow crab legs in ramen isn't a waste. If I used king crab, maybe. But I also buy king crab by the box too so I usually end up using leftover king crab for crab cakes, seafood pancakes, and even fried rice. I don't normally buy snow crab and only buy king crab but the last king crab box I bought was so salty, I'm taking a break from king crab.
