you get a fucked up sleep schedule and try to compensate for it by staying up way past the normal so that way you go to bed at a reasonable time. (Heck, maybe even earlier than what you normally do and thus woo you wake up early).

I tried that. Failed. I laid down on my bed to listen to Windows Weekly because my chair felt like it had needles wanting to devastate my entire body, and I was gone in the first 30 seconds. The bed felt and looked so good. If I ever wanted to marry a bed, it was during that time. I'd walk past it to get food in the kitchen and be like, "I want you so bad."

Anyway, what happened was yesterday(or well, two days ago?) I got shitty sleep and woke up at 10:36AM. I fell asleep around 4:00PM woke up at 8:00PM. Couldn't sleep all night(I was in bed for 3+ hours trying to sleep) and so I said, "Fuck it. I'll try to stay up until 9:00PM or so for today." Fell asleep around 3:30PM, woke up at 11:30PM.

FML. I knew I should have just tried strategic napping instead, but that has never really worked either. Seriously, I just get in the phase of, "FUCK EVERYTHING" when that alarm goes off. No matter how elaborate I make it, I'll just shut the fucking thing off even knowing the consequences because I'll not care.

i've done that....often with no success

dixycrat - you are the first to reply in a trident thread..... you've been around for years, and you have a decent post count, so i don't understand why you don't know the rule:
"this space for rent" is obligatory in trident threads

It's fucking brutal.

I think I am going to fall asleep whenever I feel like it for today.

Yes... I work nights (3 or 4 days a week), and try to flip my schedule on my days off...

Sometimes I'm successful, sometimes I'm not. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason as to when and why I'm not consistent.

Same as everyone else here... I switch my sleep schedule a lot and I rarely manage to stay awake, its just too hard lol the exception is if I have something really exciting to keep me awake, usually that takes over sleep...

Happened to me all the time when I was used to staying up till 6 am and sleeping till 2 pm or so. I can never fix my schedule at once. I have to sleep at the same time over several days to fix it.

i don't have sleep issues. work an 8-4 Monday to Friday job for 11+ years and you wouldn't either. bed at 11, up at 7, rinse wash & repeat until retirement

oh man. I went to bed around 5:00AM or 6:00AM and just woke up at 2:50PM. I remember waking up before this one, but I was like, "Shit, it's probably only been like 2 or 3 hours. Not good enough." Went back to sleep and now I am here. I overcompensated for that sleep too!

fuckkkkk

hopefully I fall asleep at a reasonable time tonight. I do need to get work done after all! (I can't really do anything productive in these weird times)

I do this every summer and winter break. I get on a schedule where I wake up at 8 PM and go to bed around 9 AM. Then I get loaded on caffeinated beverages, stay up until approximately 5 PM, and sleep twelve hours.

yeah i've found sometimes my body just doesnt need sleep for 48 hours or so... i'll skip like a day every couple weeks or so..

It is difficult to imagine a time when we did not have cell phones. Many of us rely on our phone throughout the day in order to stay in contact with our business, friends and families. Whether we like the cell phone or not, it has become an essential part of our society and there is little chance of its use being curtailed in the near future.

Even children have begun to carry their own cell phones, not only for emergency and family use but to stay in touch with their friends through the use of text messaging. What are the positive and negative points of allowing a child to carry a cell phone? I could care less.

There's no doubt that when it's necessary, a cell phone becomes an important tool for a child to use in the event of an emergency, per say. We live in a very difficult and sometimes dangerous world. Having a means of contact with your child at all times through the use of a cell phone could be a matter of their personal safety.

Children have used cell phones to contact their parents or officials in the event of a threatening situation and have even used the photo ability of the cell phone to ward off or identify predators, perse. As children grow older, it is also often a good idea to give them a certain degree of relative freedom. Responsible cell phone ownership could provide this for your child.

On the other hand, owning a cell phone can have a lot of negative impact on a child as well. These phones can be a large distraction to them, both within the walls of the school system and outside.

It becomes very easy for the child to receive text messages and pictures that the parents may not approve of. Along with that, there are also some health concerns, although unconfirmed, about the dangers of having concentrated cellular waves so close to a developing body on, persay, a regular basis .

One option that may meld the two together is to have a cell phone for the child that is limited in its capability to send and receive calls. It would only be able to call out to emergency numbers and can only send and receive two pre-established numbers. This would give the parents some peace of mind, knowing that their child has a means to contact them in case of an emergency.

There are several lines of reasoning that may help you to come to a decision of your own. First of all, if you have children this needs to be a personal issue, one that you will decide for the benefit of your children and yourself. You will also have to make sure that the cell phones are used within the guidelines that are established for them in the school system. Because of this I can care less. That's part of being a parent, the responsibility of making decisions for your child within certain guidelines, persai.
