i took the question kind of wierd and didn't know what to make of it, but I did answer his question and told him it was because when i was younger, i always wanted to make a video games because thats all i did. and as i got older, i found out there was decent $$$ in computer science so i went into it.

but i really didn't know what to think when i was told by a co-worker that i don't seem like a 'typical computer science guy.' i guess its cause i can actually get hot women :p j/k.

Hmmm, sounds like the guy was hitting on you. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

I think the question you have to ask OT is: What is considered the average IT dude??

Stereotypicalisations and generalisations should not be used in polite society

IT != Computer Science.

A lot of people don't understand the disctinctions. Some people think that if you're a Programmer, then you can "program" (install) Windows into their machine and that's what you do for a living. :p

Exactly. People not in programming or IT don't know the difference between the two.

Furthermore, I'd fit under a description of metro-sexual.

That's just hideous.

Heh, my coworkers make fun of me for that. Apparently putting gel in your hair, ironing your cloth and wearing decent shoes/shirts qualifies you as one.

In that case, the male population at work is entirely metro-sexual.

Being athletic and in CS doesn't mix to many people

After careful and extensive Psychoanalysis and using some complex calculations, I have come up with the only 2 possible meanings of your Co-Worker's question:

1) The drunker he is, the Bi-Curiouser he gets. Thus he was hitting on you cause you looked eager.

2) He thinks you are a bumbling Idiot who doesn't know a Databus from a Power Bar.

Suggested responses to above possibilities

1) Your Co-Worker seems to be a good judge of Character. Perhaps this is your opportunity to finally find happiness.

2) A Career change while still young is highly recommended. Small Claims Lawyer, McDonald's Drive Thru Clerk, or President of the USA being your best opportunities.
