7950GT is fater, x1950pro is on the level of 7900gs only. If similarly priced get 7950.

Huh? You must mean that if the X1950Pro and 7900GS are similarly priced, then get the 7900GS. There are many reviews out there on comparing the X1950Pro and 7900GS. The Pro and GS are on the same level only in terms of price, but when it comes to performance the X1950Pro beats the 7900GS pretty handily until the 7900GS is overclocked, which is when the field starts to level.

But , the X1950XT beats the overpriced 7950GT any day of the week.

Do I pay the NVidia price premium for a 7950GT ($199 with $40 mail-in rebate at Newegg) which performs slightly better then a X1950Pro, but gets trounced by the X1950XT?

Or do I buy an X1950Pro ($139 with $35 mail-in rebate at Newegg) knowing that the power consumption is lower then the X1950XT, for $50 less then the 7950GT?

Or do I say, I just got bad card and get a replacement for the X1950XT ($169 with $20 mail-in rebate at Newegg) and recommended spec's be damned - my Tagan 485W psu should be able to handle the damn card!?!

I have $200 to spend, I don't want to go over budget by needing to buy a new psu for a card/system that will only last me another 8-12 months.

I wouldn't say the X1950XT trounces the 7950GT. Depends on the game possibly.

The 1950pro is overall slightly faster than the 7900gt, so no way is a 7900gs on the same level. The 7950gt is faster, but the 1950xt is even faster still. The Ati cards require more power, but even so, a cheapo PSU has no business being in an enthusiast-class system.
