Well said. My Dad's a fireman, so I'm well aware of the dangers of fire, and of course smoke. Better to be safe than sorry.

My computer also gets power from the wall.
I dare not touch them for fear of electrical shock :Q

Smoke detector and CO detector are both working just fine. They beep at me when they get low on battery power.

Smoke detecters here are powered through the house Power and not batteries so they are ok. Good advice though.

but in a fire, sometimes power goes out... so not exactly a great idea...

also, what if power is out and you're using candles for light?

Heh, at my house they are tested everytime my mom cooks. :) It is NOT because she is a bad cook or burns stuff (usually it is excellent food that is cooked just right. :)) but rather because the smoke detector is so sensitive. That is the one on the first level. The one upstairs just went off two weeks ago when I took an extremely long shower and opened the door really wide and all the steam rushed out. :) The one in the basement though...I haven't tested that one in about 4 months...thanks for the reminder! :D
