I just tried to do an instore pickup of the Crimson/Black Nintendo DS.

i pressed the instore pickup button, and added it from my nearest store.

but in my cart, it says free shipping. it doesnt give me the option of instore pickup.

HUH?

the past 9 things ive gotten from CC ive done in store pickup for, mainily so i dont have to deal with the dumb pimple farming sales people

it could be that that specific store does not do it

Did you click Checkout? It should say "Pick up in store [your store name]".

If you're talking about the little box to the right, it says "Free" for Shipping because you've opted for in-store pick up. When you click "Checkout" it should be all set.

Don't they boast a $24 gift card if they don't have your order ready within 24 minutes?

Anyhow, it may just be that the availability of certain items is not guaranteed at stores nationwide, so pickup isn't an option, but if the above is true that's a usability issue.

Could also be that they don't do it during the holiday season in hopes that you'll make an impulse buy for someone when you go to get it.

did it in the past with my 60GB ps3...no worries here.

usually it depends on availability. the next second it could in stock, and then all of sudden, out of stock.

A couple weeks ago, I picked up two flat screen tvs, two AV receivers and a PS3. No problems, though, now that I think about it, it took longer than 24 minutes.

I do in-store there usually. If I can't find it on-line more reasonably (assuming I decided to buy the item) I will order it through circuit city for in-store pickup and grab it at lunch. Painless and you bypass the 50 sales drones that ask you the same question every 3 feet.
