Otherwise the 4 terrestrial planets would be consumed by Jupiter. Not entirely sure how the merger of the gas giants would turn out. Would there be enough mass to ignite a fusion reaction or just turn into a super giant?

The bare minimum for a brown dwarf is over 10 Jupiter masses, way more mass then there is in the whole solar system.
 
Include Ceres and Eris and it goes down to 0.6%. Throw in a few more oddballs and I bet it approaches, without surpassing, zero. You can't explain that. It's a sign that our solar system has a greater holistic meaning.

What kind of meaning would it be? Most of the numbers we're using are arbitrary. The orbit of the moon itself has a 26,465 mile variance and as pointed out above has been growing through history. The diameters of the gas giants are mostly their atmosphere and at what ever point that was decided to be the end of their atmosphere. If you include Pluto, why not Sedna and Haumea?

No. Last I read you would need 75+ more Jupiter masses to ignite fusion.

Stars, even small ones, are really freakin' big.

Btw, is jupiter really not that massive??? I thought it was insanely massive which makes it a great comet and asteroid vaccuum cleaner.
He was talking about fusion, and "supergiant" is a class of star size.

It's massive when compared to the other planets we've got here, but still tiny when compared to a star.

It's not really even massive compared so a lot of other gas giants out there 🙂

I've driven enough distance to go to the moon...so basically I could have driven across all planets? Mind Blown.

Honeslty the moon is not that far away....to believe that jupiter could easily fit between us is very strange.

Across is different than through. They are looking at the diameter of the planets, if you were driving across the planet, you want the circumference.
