You can cash/deposit USPS Money Orders at a Bank right?

You can deposit a USPS money order in a bank, but it wont be avalible until it clears. You can cash them at a Post Office though.
 
Just remember that a stolen USPS money order will reverse the funds if you deposit to a bank. Go to a USPS location and they make sure the money order is legit before giving you cash. I don't know how common stolen postal money orders are these days, but in the past it was a serious issue. Mostly inside jobs.
 
A money order is a money order.

A monetary instrument just like a cashier's check.

So the answer is YES you can cash or desposit it.

He could have called in the morning. As you said, he wouldn't able to cash the check now because a bank is not open.

Too many people on these forums post questions that can be best answered other places.
