I know you can deposit them. I have never cashed one at a bank. You can cash it at the PO I believe.

Any bank that allows you to deposit checks will allow you to deposit a USPS money order.

Just remember that a stolen USPS money order will reverse the funds if you deposit to a bank. Go to a USPS location and they make sure the money order is legit before giving you cash. I don't know how common stolen postal money orders are these days, but in the past it was a serious issue. Mostly inside jobs.

A money order is a money order.

A monetary instrument just like a cashier's check.

So the answer is YES you can cash or desposit it.

Because he posted this at 9:00 p.m. If you know a bank that's open that late, tell me, because I'll head over there around midnight to open an account.

Well, I called up the Riverside Credit Union, and the lady told me they only accept tumbleweed and tractor fuel as currency. strange.

He could have called in the morning. As you said, he wouldn't able to cash the check now because a bank is not open.

Too many people on these forums post questions that can be best answered other places.
