in my eyes by helping me with this problem. the last few days I have been getting the BSOD filled with the names of the processes listed in my Task Mgr list of processes AND a message to the effect that this box has executed a memory dump! Are there any common situations that are known to cause this? I'm in NT on a BP6 w/ 64megs. Did not experience this until just last few days, maybe a week. Could a new app do this?

BSOD isn't all that unusual...Hardware conflicts cause them all the time, so do software problems. Service packing your NT will help, as will using latest drivers and making sure you have no IRQ conflicts. How long have you been using NT? You've been pretty lucky if you've just started getting BSOD's *now* -- did you install anything new lately?

This install of NT is about 6 months old. Lately I have installed ZoneAlarm, StartupCop, Napigator, Download Accelerator. But I think the first occurence of the memory dump-BSOD was before these apps wre installed. Nor new hardware. I'll service pack it tonight and see what happens.
