you buy sanyo you get sanyo'd...

ya.
i was one of those clowns who took some random loons advice and bought a sanyo 30" 16:9 crt hdtv on the cheap last year.

my two prior tvs were sonys, i loved them but i just got fed up with paying that much more for what i was told was simply a name.

now, the sanyo thru component cable...half of the red decides to omit itself from time to time. this is true of either 2 input connections.
little over a year old.
i fvcking babied this as i do all my tvs.
(my old wega is doing justy fine in the basement)

moral of the story?
you buy sanyo you get sanyo'd

I had a sanyo cell phone that went through hell and its still running strong. I'd buy another sanyo cellphone. Don't know about TVs personally, i know one person that has had one for atleast 10 years and its still good.

I had 2 Panasonic TVs and they both died on me.
Does this mean that all Panasonics are POS ??
No, it just mean I'm more likely not to ever buy a Panasonic again.

Its not like Sony TVs never have problems before.
There are many people that have bought that same Sanyo and have been completely satisfied.

take it back to Walmart and get a refund.

over a year after the fact?

This is a manufacturing defect which effects all of these sets. I don't know if Wal-Mart or Sanyo have a special policy or not concerning this set. Poke around online and I'm sure you'll find what others have found out as far as returning it goes.

best phone ive ever owned

guess we are opposites... every piece of sony ive been in contact with has turned out to be an overpriced pos (laptops, receiver, tv). my discman kicked ass though...

I bought my sanyo DVD player in 2000. I've never had any trouble with it.
I also had several CD burners over the years that had "Burn Proof" technology. It was nice to make less coasters, thanks to Sanyo for developing that technology.
I also kinda like "hd-burn" though it's not really practical any more. It was cool at the time though, when blank DVDs were expensive, and blank CDs were cheap. Thanks to Sanyo for developing that.

So, I guess I'm in the crowd that generally likes Sanyo even though they may produce a lemon every now and again.

That being said, I do not, nor have I ever, owned a sanyo display. All my Sanyo stuff has been cd / dvd burners, or standalone cd players.

As with other makers stuff some of their products rock, some suck balls. For the most part sanyo products are good like cell phones, batteries, dvd players, but tv's on the other hand are utter crap. I have owned 2 and they didn't last long. The tube was ok but the main board stuff that kept it running would go, like the op, and its obvious they haven't fixed this problem. Some tvs go for a long time other conk out right away. Hit or miss with sanyo tv's, I personally wont buy another one. Just also got to keep in mind most of these products are not made but the people who slap their names on the set. They are made and sold generally by one company that may do a different styling here or there, then slap on a name brand for some, and chepo hungfung name on others. I laugh at people who have to have name brand and think that if it is slapped Sony, Panna, or Toshiba and cost them a arm and a leg it has to be good, when chances are it was never made by them but some Chinese company who got the contract to mass produce the product at the cheapest rate.
