Haha - one of the managers at work just called me - seems like we're already getting hammered :) We were featured in the local paper today, they were doing a story on how businesses are preparing for an influx of sales due to the superbowl, and some photographers came by work yesterday to take pictures of us working, making pizzas. Looks like we got some free advertising, and it's starting to show :) They want me to some in early :p

Hourly, 7 dollars, if I'm running a shift, them it bumps up to 8. When tips are averaged in, the figure more than doubles

I worked pizza delivery for like 1 month. It was one of the worst jobs I had. My deliveries were averaging around 10 miles per round trip and the area was poor. I was lucky to get tipped 50% of the time. A good 8 hour work shift would net be $17 bucks im serious. One time this dude paid with a giant jar of pennies. I took them back to the pizza place and got scolded by the managers for taking them. They counted out the pennies and the dude shorted me by like 2 bucks and I got in trouble again. The job sucked but maybe if your in a area that isnt as spread out and at least middle income it might be decent but for me, it was terrible and im glad i dont do it. People outside the delivery area would call for delivery and I had to drive like 15 miles 1 way to deliver their pizzas.

One time because of many factors, pizza delivery drivers know this, It took me over a hour to deliver a pizza, the dude at the door handed me a $1 dollar tip but I told him i didnt deserve it because the pizza was so late. I always felt bad delivering pizzas that were late, like ones that took 1+ hour, felt really bad for the people that ordered them.

WE have a very large delivery area, twice as large as the "other" two national chains in our area - but it alright off since alot of our area is middle income and higher and we're pretty accurate about giving correct delivery times (even if they're over an hour, which they will probably be tonight) Plus, when spring break comes, I can pretty much expect to go home with more than a hundred bucks in tips a day, so it all pays off :)

We used to keep sodas in the car for people that ordered sodas. I would have like 4 or 5 six packs in the back seat and sometimes I would drink them haha.

Wow. Feels like there is a whole lot of BS in that tipthepizzaguy.com site. I used to tip $1+the change. Now I usually tip change + $2 + $1 for each additional item. The only reason I tip more now is that I live on the 2nd floor of a house and there are 4 sets of stairs to get to my apartment, otherwise If I was on the main floor I'd just tip the $1+change.

EDIT: I have and have had friends who are drivers and they usually get paid ~$8/hr + tips. Usually wait staff is making minimum wage or below.

Some people are not aware of this. I didn't know for a long time. You're supposed to tip the pizza delivery driver like you tip the waiter.

What fvcking moron made that site? Of course you tip the delivery guy. I've known that since I was 7 or 8 years old. If I wanted to pay the guy (because back then it was exciting or whatever kids think it is) my dad made sure to tell me to give him x dollars as a tip.

I think it was the last time that I ordered from Dominos, I gave the guy a tip, and he seemed surprised. He said that a lot of people don't give tips anymore so he really appreciates it when he gets anything now.

I tip just like I would in a resteraunt. Around 12-15%. Usually it ends up being 3 or 4 bucks. I don't mind because it's either someone who doesn't speak english very well (so chances are they're trying to earn a living off the job) or a younger looking person (so chances are they're in college and need a little extra help). Once I get to college that's all I can ask for, so why not live by the golden rule?

Remember: http://www.tipthepizzaguy.com/

I've always wondered if any of you guys carry commercial insurance on your cars? Ya know when you deliver your not using your car for everyday purposes it becomes a commerical vehicle. Its not too bad rate of a rate increase when you call your insurance guy--it only about doubles it on a per year basis. I should know,I've paid it for decades.

Ordering pizzas is such a ripoff. Why in the world would I pay $8.50 for a medium pizza + $2.00 in tip when I can get a medium supreme Digorno for $3.99 at Food for Less?

The only problem I had with the site was that it says if you get the wrong pizza, you should tip the first driver, but not the second.

If I get the wrong pizza and have to wait for the other one to come then nobody gets a tip.
