You are not a well dressed man unless you wear a hat

This is what my grandpa used to say. Indeed it was not that long ago, that if you did not have your head covered, you were considered absolutely uncouth. Not just here but in most cultures around the world. Amazing how quickly the cultural norms change.

Trousers (for men) have been replaced by shorts.

Even today, French women almost never wear shorts. They consider it way too unchic. Almost the same for men. In France, clothes are not just clothes. They mean more than that.

I wonder what will be the next piece of attire to go.....

I wish I could wear a hat. I have an enormous melon that just looks stupid in a hat.

I hope pants are the next to go. I hate pants.

Your Gramps would be so proud.

Fedora's are great if you wear a suit. trouble is so many idiots wear them now they are associated with bronies.

Bogart was a short ugly fuck. Some folks are so ugly, they're good looking (Bogart, Cagney, Richard Boone).

Fashions change. I think a nice fedora is an awesome look, but hipsters have ruined it with the short-brimmed trilby bullshit that looks good on Justin Timberlake and NOBODY ELSE, and wearing a fedora makes you look like either an anachronistic assclown or a douchebro. The only other hats you see nowadays are ballcaps, and those were never exactly indicative of style or class to begin with.

"stylish" hats work on few people, with fewer outfits.

Plus I have kind of thick afro-ish hair (Italiano) and I need to slap a bunch of gel in it for nicer occasions. That won't work so well with a hat.

I think the next change will be men wearing short shorts. There is already a movement in New York (where else?) encouraging men to do that

i don't know if it is the absolute last place, but ATOT is VERY close to the bottom of the list of places i would ever go for any type of fashion advice.

...but you're not a polite man unless you take it off.
A courtesy lost now days. Also, standing when a lady enters your space. But your a gentile man of the South, so I'm telling you nothing new. LOL, remember when Aunt Bea, Samantha Stevens, and Mrs. Bellows wore stockings, and gloves just to leave the house?

lol what? Hats in professional attire went out 50 bleedin' years ago. Draper and Sterling stopped wearing them in the 60's.
Wearing one now is trying too hard.

haha that's not just a hat, that's an asshat

ya, and it includes a piece to wipe with. So its an asshole in an asswipe in an asshat. But I dont see the stickers under the brim, so he failed at that also.
