for me, i just don't clean it out of laziness, and i like to refer back a lot. oh and i have some of my writing saved as attachments.

I keep some of my writing saved as attachments too, but it doesn't take up 500MB...
 
329MB. Man I love Gmail, how did people get by back when free webmail only offered a few MB of storage?

edit: As far as usage, I just don't delete anything, and keep in mind this is like five years worth of email.

Also if people receive a lot of pics and stuff like that from friends and family members it's probably not that hard to use up a lot of space. I don't receive a lot of attachments otherwise my usage would be much higher probably.

Idk.. I don't think it could be mostly writing that makes up that space... Like 10,000 words in a .docx file is only about 60kb. You would need about 8333 of those 10,000 word documents to fill up that space... I don't see how you could do that unless you are a teacher...
 
I have a crap ton of short stories and poetry. I write almost daily. Probably all in all just a few MBs worth, but I have around 4000 messages, so who knows what's in there.


EDIT: My writing archived backup is 16MB.

I reference chats, emails, attachments, etc. several times per week and sometimes several times per day. I use my email account for my to-do list (the labs addon is great) and I also update an on-going email thread with my long-term to-dos (easier than using the addon). The superstar addon + multiple inboxes makes it extremely easy to catalog important emails on top of the oh-so-convenient labels. <3 Gmail.
 
About 1000MB, 13%. And I use mine to store files.
So much better than my old 2MB hotmail. I used to have to empty that thing like once a week. I guess they didn't expect pictures to ever be sent through email.
