nah BF2 just isn't that fun.

it was a letdown for me

what did you not like about it?

The bugs.

Most anygame has bugs in its initial release. You should try it again when the new patch arrives. Should be some big changes.

Though true about all games have bugs, BF2's bugs are horrific. Few games attain that level of bugginess.

the blackhawk owning the map will be fixed in the next patch (hopefully). It seems they will only let you repair the blackhawk from the inside at a slower rate. I know this will make the blackhawk much more vunerable to anti-air.

They also need to beef up the other chopper. It's really no contest between the two.

Bunny hopping and the nade launcher need nerfs too.

Yeah the bunny hopping is gay. I think they should make the nade launcher take longer to reload and maybe only allow a capacity of 2 nade rounds.

yeah, i'd agree, the game has so many flaws its like they where thinking if they dont get the game out before Day of Defeat then they'll never sell any copies. its really pathetic that they'd release a game with that many problems, its probably one of the worst i've seen. i still play it though.

I have to admit, I thought it would be a lot better than it actually is. There are great things about it, especially how well BF2 keeps track of your statistics and such, but the game as a whole is lacking.

The only way to advance quickly through the ranks is to fly a plane or more specifically, a chopper. Sometimes armor is good too but I can rake up the points (and kills) like nobody's business with a good chopper pilot. We go from place to place and land on the flags, capture them and take off, killing people as we go. It's so easy and takes such little effort. On the other hand, I personally REALLY enjoy being an infantry man because it takes more skill than would a jet fighter or chopper... and as a result I get pwnz0r3d for it. If you are not the USMC, it's extremely difficult to kill choppers because the anti-tank gun can't aim to hit the chopper (ie, guiding the missle).

The game isn't bad. I was stupid and when I got my first unlock, I chose the sniper rifle thinking I could actually make a difference, but unfortunately that's not the case -- I just continue to get owned and maybe I'll get a streak of kills but eventually... it gets boring and I go back to the chopper.

And my biggest pet peeve... I CANNOT MAP THE KEYS PROPERLY. The BF2 default loadout is stupid (for me) and unfortunately the keymaps won't change properly either! The netcode for this game is pretty pathetic as well, as the lag gets unbelievable and the game gets very slow at times. I choose fast servers with good ping to me, and even still it will happen. It never happens in any other game however, so I find this a problem with BF2 and not my connection (which has always been fast).

The game could be great, but unfortunately it's SO tilted to the bias of armor, choppers and jets that playing an infantryman seems to be of little consequence. I play spec ops a lot, and I'll blow up the radar, UAV, and I get 0 points for it. And that would be my function, right? To take out the infrastructure? But a chopper pilot can get 200 points in a game just by hopping one place to another and getting killed maybe what... 2, 3 times if you're good, with good gunners?

There's little point to the game if you are playing as an infantry guy, and that's the most annoying thing about it.

YAY F-35Bs and MiG-29s!!
Heh, I've found that most of the people playing the retail version (as fighter pilots) are complete and total n00bs compared to the people playing the demo. And if you ever happen to play on a server with me (mrSHEiK124) do NOT take an airplane I have my eye on, I'll get kicked if I have to, its MINE ;)

I feel ya. Alot of things should be different sometime next month. With mapping the keys, I don't have any problems. I like the layout because of playing BF1942 previously and it is simliar as far as controls just some extra addons.

If you lag all the time maybe it is something with your hardware setup or your quality settings are too high. I hardly ever lag in the game unless my ping is very high on a distance server or the server is overloaded. What are your specs (cpu, ram, videocard, sound)

Dunno about that guy, but if I have ANYTHING other than AVG, explorer (which I sometimes kill for that extra 20-30MB of RAM :evil;), and maybe iTunes running, it stutters like a trouble child on crack (thank you foamy for those awesome words of wisdom). I've got a Mobile Athlon XP 2600+ at 2.0 GHz (last time I messed with it, I think, not at home right now), a gig of OCZ Plat (2-2-2), and a GeForce 6800GT that surprisingly OC'ed 25 MHz over Ultra VPU and RAM speeds. All the settings are moderate, a couple are on Very High, most are on High, and I got 2x AA. I've crashed countless fighters (and sometimes FULL black hawks) into the water because BF2 decides it would be nice to skip a couple thousand frames, EA/DICE really need to fix that sh1t in the next patch, it occassionally spurs off huge FireFox <1.5 like RAM leaks too.

No, my PC is set up perfectly to handle the game, in fact it's MORE than set up. I am set up for Quake4 :)

Anyways... lots of improvements need to be made to this game before it becomes genuinely enjoyable for all types of players. Right now the biggest 'fun' comes in flying around or rollin in a tank. And the weapons to combat them are damned near useless. As I recall, Stinger missles can be mounted on your arm (a big reason why the Afghans beat the fvck out of the Russians, shooting their choppers down), so why don't we have them in game?

The game was a huge disappointment to me. Having played BF42/Expansions/DC for couple of years now I am accustomed to big maps with lot's of vehicles to choose from. The magnitude of battles and all-out combat of BF42 can not be touched ny BF2, at least not yet. I can not get over how generic BF2 maps are, a constant feeling of deja-vu, as if I played it already in BF:V

It's sad to see that a fun team-oriented game turned into a point-farming charade. It's no longer about having fun, but how many badges you earn, and the lenght to which some players go to in order to earn points is disturbing to say the least.
