OK, I don't know if its the memory for sure (only memtested at 490) but all I can get is 475 x 7 stable. I want to go back to my old config, as I need to reboot ubuntu and finish my F@H units (currently at 72%), but what else should I test before I reconfigure ?
450 FSB wall is definitely NOT a problem for a Q6600 G0 quad. 475 right now in 30 minutes of tweaking...
yea with a $300+ DQ6... come on Mark, the more average boards will top out around 450, and my post was referred to the general public, those people that aren't going to spend 300 dollars on a motherboard. if you can barely hit 475 FSB with a 12 phase DQ6, I'd say my estimation is fairly good...
....
i dont have a comment for this. Jag is partially correct tho.
The board plays a hugh role when you try to exceed the 450fsb point.
I knew a few boards that can easily do this... but its not "average" to what people on this forum would buy.
Hell im looking at 3 boards i have right now that can probably do 450+FSB.
EVGA 780i <--- hypothetical statement here. I havent tried it yet.
DFI LT X38
Gigabyte P35-DQ6
Asus P5K-DLX
uhhh i have 4 in my arsenal. LOL
ummm each cost around 250 dollars tho. :T
Man... i dont know what to drop on my new system. 780i + SLI or DFI LT + Xfire.
QFT.
I just don't like unqualified "absolute" and "max" stements. Note my post 2 up. Yes, the noard is huge, and you taught me that. Memory also plays an imporant part. I have Ballistix PC-8000 that won;t (seemingly) do over 475, and I have Gskill PC-8500 that won't even post over 470 in the same motherboard (A lowly S3) that the Ballistix does 490 post.
I will absolutely say is gets WAY harder over 450, thats all.....
