I opened up a canister of yogurt once..discovered a big blob of mold right on the top. It was still sealed...so I just scraped off the mold and ate it.

Turns out the expiration date was about 2 months past, even though we just bought it :Q

You're a better man than I am, Charlie Brown.

I hope you know that getting the mold off the surface doesn't get rid of the mold altogether. You still ate a big chunk of the unseen portion of the mold that grows under the surface. 😛

Oh well..i'm alive today and likely won't do that again in the future 😉

As bad as it sounds, even eating a big hunk of mold is highly unlikely to harm you. Inhaling it is bad, but you can munch away all you like, might even get rid of that ungainly smell you've been noticing "down there".

muh gf eats 2 month old+ yogurts, shes still alive

yet shes a litttllee wacko at some times :Q maybe it IS because of the yogurt?

jk bout the wacko 🙂 i still love her 🙂

No problem, every expiration date is very early just to be safe - and mainly safe from lawsuits, not to protect you. If it's been cold the whole time you're good. You'd be shocked at the length of time things have been expired that is fed to the homeless, prisoners, schoolkids etc. Send it to me and I'll eat it. You can even stir it up and lick the lid first if that's your favorite part.

so......you drink expired milk?

expired milk just starts to taste funny, it won't hurt you/make you sick

my dad lived in Finland in the early 60's and almost no one there had a refrigerator. they would keep milk in a milk can on the porch and drink it until it got too thick to drink. then they would eat it.

old milk won't make you sick, it just doesn't taste the way americans like it

Here at my dorm, I once left milk in the fridge for 2 days past the expiry and it was nasty, two seperate liquids, one yellow the other thick white, and it smelled NASTY, no way in hell I would try that shit.

I've drunk "spoiled" milk before. It really just depends on how cool you've kept it.

I've drunk frozen and defrosted milk a couple of weeks after the expiration date and it tasted just fine.

I ate two tablespoons of bio-k fermented soy yogurt this morning and noticed that it was moving. I looked at the label and it expired 2 years ago, June 2009. About an hour later, I got a sharp pain in my stomach and had a really amazing movement. I took the remainer of the yogurt and mixed with two pints of coconut milk, which I make my own yogurt from. I seem to be not harmed by the two spoons I ate, but reading the threads about it, someone mentioned that it could have salmonella. The yogurt I made this morning is already yogurt. Normally it takes a few weeks, but the cultures are so strong, it is already done! I really want to eat it, but am not sure. I will muscle test to see if it is safe, but my gut says eat it. What do you all think?

Am I seeing things or did you just revive a thread from 2004?

But the last posting date from the OP was in 2005, so he must have ate the yogurt....

rip imported_Tomato...

Yogurt? How about a throwing star? When I was real young and walking around a grocery store with my mom I saw an Asian man, and at the time, I thought all Asians knew martial arts. I went up and asked him if he was a black belt in Karate. He looked at me like I was a retard and I slunk back to where my mom was standing. As soon as I was back at our shopping cart, I got nailed in the upper back with a throwing star. When I turned around, no one was there.

old pointless threads as opposed to NEW pointless threads? 😀 There are some oldies but goodies buried in the depths that make for really funny reading... was wading through some from 2000 myself earlier!

I am not from 2005. I am from today, 2011, March 31, and am trying to find out if you guys think it is safe to eat yogurt I made from an expired bio-k soy yogurt that expired in 2009. I muscle tested and it came out that it is fine to eat it. I don't want to throw it away because I think it will be really good for me, but am torn about eating it since the people who make it said do not eat it. Any gut feelings on this?

Put some glass shards in it and all will be fine....

/eat it up, yum.

Does anyone other than myself have memories of imported_Tomato?

I remember the time that imported_Tomato showed up on my doorstep with a dead hooker in the trunk of his car and asked me for my help in dealing with it and I told him, "Bro, eat the yogurt...."

Wasn't Tomato the one that cheated on her boyfriend in a nightclub bathroom?

Thanks everyone for your replies.
I ate the yogurt and have not felt this good in years! My intuition said
it was okay and since it smelled okay, I ate it. Think I lost 5 pounds.
Glad I did not throw it away. I am using a bit of it to make more yogurt with coconut milk.

It appears the OPs Yogurt expired in November of 2004, and subsequently arose from the dead (NecroCurds?).

I wouldn't eat it, either.
