I don't have a scanner, and I'm not sure how good my digital camera would take a picture of the receipt, but I'll give that a try.

No luck here at my local store here in MS. :(

However, I did pick up the 320GB Seagate drive on sale for $53 (after a 12% off coupon). :)

Well the camera didn't work out very well, the images don't look very good. I did find a really old scanner lying around and am going to give that a shot. It's a Canon FB620U, so I'm not sure how good it is.

Here is a scan. The scanner did a pretty good job.

None found in VA Beach, but both BB's had their HD's scattered through out the store. It was like a treasure hunt trying to locate the drives. They were in 6 different loacations other than the computer department. I did find a 320GB WD Book listed for $169, but rang up at $90!

Checked 3 local stores and 1 about 40 miles away, none of them cheaper than $189

There are receipt scans on SD from the Outer loop Louisville store for $55.99. The OP picked up 7 of them and stated that many would do an RSS lookup and match. YMMV.

This sale must be in certain stores. I went to two different BB stores and they are priced at $229.99 no dice on the $55.99 price.

Called a store about 50 minutes away from my home. The lady at the front desk looked up the SKU and said they had two in store. I first thought of asking to transfer the phone to the Computer section and have them hold it for me. But, I thought, the sales agents in that section would likely pick it up and keep for themselves if they were alerted about this.

So, I drive for 50 minutes to this BB and go straight to the Computer section. A young man, a sales agent, looks it up on his computer . . . and yup! the system says there are two. So, we go on over to the aisle where it is supposed to be, but there's none there. Another senior sales rep says, "Look at the clearance area at the front of the store." We look, but still no luck. Then, we go to the manager of the Computer section. He listens to what we're (I'm) looking for and says, "No. We don't have that." Then, he adds, "If we did, I would have gotten them myself." I got the distinct impression that is exactly what he did.

They tried to sell me some other sale priced HDDs. I wasn't interested; so, I left. This unmakes my day. Being able to narrate it here, makes it a wee bit better.

Stupid question... But will they generally do price matches from other states?

Well, I just spoke to Best Buy #??? and was told that it isn't available anywhere in CA. Then I called Best Buy #??? and was told they didn't have it but another store did....for $200+.

I asked if they price match receipts from different states and they said NO. I don't what to make of it.

Yes this HD is dicontinued which is why it is so cheap at certain stores. Of course no store in CA has it in stock anymore, they are all gone. You expect a 750GB hard drive for $56 to last?

Anyways, I called up 2 BB's where I live and each of them has a few in stock. I called them up and read off the Best Buy item # (SKU) that the OP posted and each were + $200. So I printed off 2 receipts that other people have posted that shows them getting this deal, and I will try to get one of these BB's to price match.

I'm not sure what will be the best way to do it though, I guess going to the Customer Service counter with the hard drive in my hand and asking them to do a price match to one of the receipts I printed off?

Doubt this will work though, in the slickdeals forum some people went to Circuit City and got them to price match a BB receipt.

Just a big YMMV.

Actually, there is a store that has it in CA. As far as bringing in the receipt, the CA stores only pricematch to local competitors (at least that was what I was told)

Circuit City does have it in stock. Will they price match from a receipt that's out of state?

I just talked to a Circuit City #??? (CA) and this is what they said. They only PM if its a local competing store, the price can be verified (online or via phone), and it is within 30 days.

There is only one BB that has it in stock (CA) and they have a $200+ price tag, so I'm not sure this will happen...for me at least ;)

EDIT: Found this for those of you curious about Circuit City's PM policy

Same (found 7 or 8 actually lol), didn't have a scan or anything in-hand and it rang up $229 or something. Awesome deal if you guys can actually get the PM but not worth the hassle for me, HDD deals come around often enough.
