I hope so. I remember deep discounts on the Zen+ series last year. To be honest I'm not certain it's going to happen this time around, but I'd love to pick up 3950x or maybe even second 3900x on the cheap.

Yeah, if it happens anywhere it will be at Microcenter. Given they are on the same node it seems more likely that Zen 2 is simply going to disappear. With the higher base prices on Zen 3 parts they are already "sale" priced even at MSRP for core counts, etc.

It's a bit amazing to me that we went so quickly to one of the BEST value/performance situations with Ryzen to such low supply that a new processor launch hasn't yet caused any super good values on the older generation.

At this rate there will be no downward pressure on Zen 2 because Zen 3 will just continue to sell out. Didn't camp out at MC this morning so no new CPUs for me.

Maybe this isn't new, but I just don't remember such widespread purchasing of launch day add-in CPUs. Crazy.

Well it offers the best performance across the board, it's no surprise. I hope supply is better next month, everyone building their new PC want 5000 series cpu right now.

Exactly. The new prices let Zen 2 skus live on at their current levels and continue to offer value.

That would depend greatly on where you live I would assume. My local MC is out of 3600XTs. So looking elsewhere, if I wanted a 3600XT it's about $245. The 5600X (presuming it's available of course) is $299. I wouldn't call the 3600XT at least "Great value". It's been $220 at MC for months. So....

In Europe, the 5600X should be more around €350 if I'm not mistaken.

3600X - $180 > $260
3700X - $280 > $300
3800X - $300 > $340

What inventory they DID have had been selling at the "normal" pricing. Crazy times we live in right now.

3600X - $180 > $260
3700X - $280 > $300
3800X - $300 > $340

What inventory they DID have had been selling at the "normal" pricing. Crazy times we live in right now.

I know, and here I was thinking, maybe just maybe we were going to get 3900s @ $300 & 3900xt @ $350. HA. Complete 180 of that.

Zero regrets buying $200 9700ks and a $300 9900k a week before Ryzen 3 launch now. Side note, they haven't gotten any slower or worse of deal at all. 10700k (lol, I hate the 10th gen names) now at $320, 10850k at $385. Finally the unstoppable massive Intel supply chain of 14nm parts paying off. Ha.

If you said I had to pick today between walking out of MC with a 3800x or a 10850k I wouldn't even think twice about dropping the funds on the i9. And six months ago I never would have predicted that.

3600's up to $249.99 currently....Luckily I picked one up last week for $199.99 when I bought my MB, case, and power supply. Saved me $20 on my MB.
