If you're in the Downey/Norwalk area the OD on Firestone & 605 still had 8 of the red seat mid-back chairs this morning. They don't have anymore black fabric hi-backs as I bought 2 and my friend bought the other. They were supposed to hold the last 2 for him but someone sold one of them (so they say) even though his name was on it. I think one of the employees snagged it since they don't even have one on display. They do have a display blue seat hi-back available. They didn't have any of the leather seat ones.

My friend told me the store mgr checked stock for the black fabric hi-back at other stores and said the Pasadena store is showing 5 available. Who knows how accurate the stock info is though.

If you're tall you'll love the hi-back. My friend is at least 6'3" and over 250 lbs and the back rest on the chair is over his head. Plus he has more than enough room to sit comfortably. He's pretty impressed with the chair.
 
mr. spanky, did you have them run it thru the system? when i can't find it out on the floor, i go into worse case scenario mode and just get the most disinterested lady (sexist i know 😱, especially since miz carmann hooked the thread up with all of the info 🙂) to punch it in and check stock. sometimes they lie, sometimes they don't
 
spanky, the store I picked mine up at didn't have the chair I bought on display either. I just gave the guy the number (stood behind him as he punched it in) and it showed 4 instock. He seemed surprised that I had an item number for something that wasn't even displayed.

Something I didn't notice on these chairs earlier is the armrest itself isn't that hard plastic. It's a hard foam type substance. Just another nice feature of the chair.

how does a mesh chari compared to the one with the back with with cushion ?

btw, I notice there is a horizonal bar across the back of the mesh, does it hurt your back ?

It's more comfortable than you would think. The chair I was using previously (which OD still sells) had a full back cushion and the mesh chair is every bit as comfortable. When I first saw this deal I wasn't interested because of my prior testing of a mesh chair. The one I had tested before was a soft mesh sort of like a football jersey. I didn't feel it supported well at all. As I said earlier, the mesh on these chairs are really firm.

btw, I notice there is a horizonal bar across the back of the mesh, does it hurt your back ?
That bar is the padded adjustable lumbar support. It's not uncomfortable at all. I prefer a chair that offers good lumbar support.

btw...these chairs aren't in the catalog that's in the stores now. If someone has an old one it might be in there.

My local OD in Cerritos, CA has a red mid-back displayed. It doesn't look very nice but comfortable like Carmann said.
 
just got back from OD in Shady Grove, MD got the mid-back w/red fabric seat - 686831 for $25.99. Putting it toghter as we speak, it felt really comftrable in store. I also tried to check out the leather highback with head rest but they did not have it but they did have one that looked like it but with a diffrent sku but same company and name. The rockville store i only checked for the red one which they didnt have when i went there i didnt have the other SKUs. i might go there to check it out later.

my tip to grabbing one of these chairs. IS ASK for them to look for it, the tag on the display one said 129 still, so u have to ask because it is 25.99 in the system.

I was wondering, is the high back one much better then the mid back....cause I got the mid back one, and relly like it...wonder if I should get the high back one?????😕
 
akahai, it's all in personal preference. Some people don't like hi-back chairs and some don't like mid-back's. If you don't have a preference then go for the hi-back, it's only $4.00 more.

The comfort level is pretty much equal for both chairs but my preference is a hi-back. I like to lean my head back against something when I'm in my chair, can't do that with a mid-back. I like the way the hi-back reclines (back rest only). With the mid-back, the seat and backrest recline together.

on a side note, the store I got mine from had the clearance prices posted on the mid-back chair and the display blue seat hi-back.

not afaik... but why not try and order it from another area's zip code and have them ship it to your address? the pros used to do this a lot (i forget how it's done--never did it, just remember reading about it), with some success... is the link still good? haven't checked...

haha, i took the two i bought for $20 each home to give to my parents and sister. they were so tickled they offered TO PAY FOR THEM 😀 playing with the swiveling armests right now. my momma say my daddy can't sit in it too long cause his buts too nasty lol

VERY comfortable but really ugly red. I'll have to staple an old t-shirt on the seat to hide it.

This chairs are very nice and comfortable too. Almost everything on them can be adjusted. I picked up 3 of them a couple of days ago. The arm rests are adjustable (raise/lower, twist 3 positions) and the head rest can be adjusted as well, to make the chair even taller. The lumbar support in the back can be adjusted as well, so you can lower it if you don't want any support, or adjust to any position you want if you want support. There's a tilt tension like most chairs as well. The chair is definitely a good bargain and the padding on this seat will last for quite a while unlike most of the leather chairs from staples/office depot/office max. (I just got rid of my old chair) If any of you need a chair, I'd highly recommend that you go out and test this chair out. Goodluck.
