Walked in to Best Buy looking for a case for my digital camera when I noticed the 128MB Cruzer was being sold for $49.99 no rebates. Put it in the back of my mind and left to Circuit City and they had the Cruzer for $89.99 - $40 MIR. Long story short did a 110% PM to Best Buy's price (not advertised or on their website so buy from Best Buy and return using the receipt for PM) and got the Cruzer for $5.99 after the Circuit City rebates.

I noticed the prices for the Cruzer was $49.99 at 3 SoCal BBs so I'm not sure if it's regional.

Tips:
Buy from CC first leave the rebates in the car, then buy from BB and use the receipt to PM

I dont get this? So you are going to : ?
1. Buy from CC first
2. Then buy from BB at the lower price
3. Go back to CC for a PM with the BB receipt (for a PM refund)
4. And then go back to BB for refund (keeping the CC one)?

So, you gotta visit both stores twice? :(

Yes...
I tried telling them the price was $49.99 at BB but Circuit City guy said they were call blocked?!?! The BB website also shows the cruzer at $99.99 so the only way to prove the price is to buy it and have a receipt handy. Other than that steal the BB price tag (what the CC guy wanted me to do :Q)...

Sobe, sometimes if you go to CC to PM before purchasing the product, the manager might say "After our rebate, the price comes out the same. If you want us to match BB's offer, you're not eligible for the rebate."

They can put a comment on your receipt and on the computer to not honor the rebate, but I don't know if that really works.

If you go back to PM after already purchasing the product, the manager that does the price adjustment probably has no idea there is a rebate associated with it or doesn't care. Then again, they might not care in the first place.

gotcha! thanks . . .

PM is like asking a girl out . . . after failing the first couple of times, I'm a little PM shy :) LOL

btw, anyone been able to use the BB 10% Customer Appreciation coupon at CC? I tried "do you accept competitors coupon" and was told "no" so I backed off and kept the coupon in my back pocket :(

How did you guys do it? . . .

You guys beat me to the punch on this one. I did this a couple of times today. The CC rebates are one per person/address etc., so had to do individual receipts for each rebate. One of my Best Buys has the $49.99 price on the item tag, the other is still listed at $89.99?, but scans at $49.99 at the register. So I bought one of the Cruzers at Best Buy to show the actual selling price. Both local CCs were very nice about price matching. This has not always been the norm, CC has been "one royal pain in the arse" about price matching other times, but maybe they all went through proper customer relations training or something lately. At the last CC this afternoon, the person at the counter was just perfect. He carefully reprinted copies and duplicates of all rebates and then stapled them together in groups so I would not get each rebate confused with another. Actually very nice experience. I must commend CC on this one. At any rate, got several of these, and with the rebates, this is one great buy!

This was not in BB's weekly ad, it is just the knee jerk reaction that BB does sometimes for competitor's advertised price after rebates. Sometimes BB just drops their price to "after rebate price" of local competitor, and sometimes they drop prices Sunday and Monday, then rise again and spit out a newly formed BB rebate to match the competition. I've seen it both ways. So best bet is to get into BB now and actually buy one of the 128mb Cruzers, then take that receipt to CC for the PM.

Thanks.

I guess for best results I will:
1) Buy this at BB B&M for $49.99
2) Buy this at CC B&M for $89.99 rebates will print out
3) Take rebates out to the car and grab copy of BB receipt
4) Walk back into CC B&M and request 110% PM against BB
5) Return item to BB for refund
6) Mail rebates

I had to have them call the local BB B&M to confirm the price of $49.99 for the PM. She then gave me $44 off instead of the $40 PM, and my total cost, after tax, was $49.55 - 20 rebate - 20 rebate = $9.55!

Just thought I'd take a chance to see what would happen. I went to BB, picked it up for $49.99 (The guy in the computer dept. said they had none but I checked the digital camera section and found it) and PM at CC. When the rebate form didn't print out, I got a little nervous but came home and downloaded the forms from CC site. I guess it was a good thing that the rebate form didn't print out at the store since they might have made an issue (a manager was right there). Thanks mysterie!

That's because CC PM's 110% the competitor's price after your purchase. The extra $4 is the 10% difference.

My wife and I just returned and this worked great using the following steps I listed earlier in the thread:
1) Buy this at BB B&M for $49.99
2) Buy this at CC B&M for $89.99 rebates will print out
3) Take rebates out to the car and grab copy of BB receipt
4) Walk back into CC B&M and request 110% PM against BB
5) Return item to BB for refund
6) Mail rebates

Call Blocked... ROFL... sounds like he just didn't want to call BB. This is were a personal cell phone comes into play. As for the BB shelf tag, sometimes they will xerox them for you if you are cool. Just feed them a line about wanting it for a reminder to think about buyng.

Yea, but I never actually bought at BB, and had no receipt from them. My one rant, if you will, is that these Sandisk are the slowest media out there. I thought the slider deal to move the SD card and USB port in and out slightly hokey. I suspect with heavy constant use it might break after a time.
