Yikes for elective surgery! My $700 cyst

I had a bump on my scalp above my left ear for a couple of years. Then it started oozing. Smelled like parmesan. Pretty gross. It was a Sebaceous cyst, and considering my propensity to be a tad obsessive, over a period of six months or so, I couldn't stop thinking about it, fiddling with it, draining it, etcetera.

Finally had enough and went to a plastic surgeon to have it out. very straightforward procedure, they numbed me up, made an incision and yanked it out, I could feel\hear the tearing as it seperated... :disgust:

I am not happy that I had to pay $700 for something anybody could have done (though my doctor was great and I know he did an excellent job) but I am relieved it's out of there. Nothing else would have gotten rid of it, so chalk it up to the expense of aging.

That's my story... oh and I took the day off, even though I'm just sitting here neffing, because I don't want to have to deal with my office-mates ridiculing my gloopy hair where they put vaseline in...
Can't shower for 36 hours...

I did make them show me the little pain in the ass, but I didn't take pictures.

I just GIS'd sebaceous cysts and
1) I got off lightly
2) Don't do that, it's gross.

They put me under when they removed my wisdom teeth.

Oh they suggested it, but it was about $500 more so I said no. The Doctor was wary at first, but afterwards he said it was fine. I had one touchy moment were a waking up nerve bot touched with an instrument, but they just shot me up some more and I was fine after that.

Same, had 2 impacted ones that they had to cut out and break them, pulled another while they were at it to. Just had local, but still felt some stuff and the sound was horrible.

I was out. Best experience of my life waking up in no pain and seeing the world in a new and trippy light. The meds they gave me afterwards sucked though.

I look at open abdomens (hearts and lungs) all the time but stuff like cysts, abscesses, infections, etc really turn my stomach... heh. I had 2 wisdom teeth pulled, or yanked is more like it, a few weeks ago. That sound you describe still gives me shivers. Crunching, tearing, grating horrible noise.... aaaack. Time for lunch.

Same here. They cut/cracked one without it being completely "under" I grabbed the armrests as if I was going to rip them off. He quickly grabbed the syringe and started pumping more local into me.... talk about pain. Ugh.
