A week or so ago my drive belt flew off the pulleys and I finally got around to putting it on the other day. Now it will not boost off. I am trying to boost it directly on the starter and it will turn over once and that is it. I take the cables off and it's the same thing every time, it will try to turn over one time then nothing. Someone told me it might be my ignition switch, what do you think?

Is the battery still in the circuit when you try to start, though?

Is the mower a 6 volt system? If it is and you're boosting it off a 12 volt system, that's not great.

Why aren't you jumping it at the battery?

Or perhaps I should ask you what happens when you jump it the normal way? That is, when you connect your booster pack to the battery and then try to start the mower.

And you're certain the booster pack is up to snuff?

You can jump it off your car if need be.

are you sure you're jumping directly at the starter motor terminals? none of the belts are engaged right?

Take the spark plug out and see if the engine will turn over when you jump start it. My lawn mower carb had a leaking needle/seat. Gas would leak from the carb into the engine and hydo lock the engine.
