48 hour rest between, I believe.

At least 48 hours.

I seem to do better with even more rest between workouts.

My schedule lately is:

Monday: Cardio
Tuesday: Full body workout
Wednesday: Cardio
Thursday: Cardio
Friday:Cardio
Saturday: Full body workout
Sunday: Lay on my ass and rest

My Cardio is alternating between walking/treadmill, elliptical trainer, bike riding and jogging.

I know I will never get huge muscles doing this, but I am getting lots smaller, even though the scale shows no weight loss.

The main thing to remember is that no one cookie cutter approach will work for every person. Each individual has different needs depending on their goals, and will respond to workouts differently. Mix it up and try different things all the time, see what schedule works best for you.

Also remember not to get stuck in the exact same strength training routine forever. There are lots of different exercises for all your muscle groups, use all of them at one time or another.
For instance, dont just do squats, you can do lunges, leg press, hack squats and one legged squats. You can also vary your foot placement to use the muscle a little differently.

I do situps every day to build my abs. Should i do it every other day or is everyday good enough? I heard giving muscles rest for a day or two is where the muscle building occurs. Is that true?

with abs it doesn't work that way. You should do abs every day

oooo wow sit ups. Sit ups do nothing for you. If you want a lot of muscle in your ab area you have to sit up with weights, or do power crunches with a huge amount of weight.

If you want to strengthen your abs, you need to work them with more weight. Right now you're only building their endurance.

Of course, if you want to look like you have abs you'll have to lose the fat first.
