Yet another WinXP install problem

hey guys!

Ok, I just got my copy of XP Pro and of course I back everything up and goto install (just a temporary install while my good HD's are coming back from RMA). I then take everything out of my computer, save one ram chip (256meg) my vid card (GeForce2 GTS 32 Meg) processor (1.2 gig T-Bird). This is running on an asus a7v133-raid board.

So it checks my hardware, copies files and I partition just fine. Upon the reboot it comes up with an error that setup cannot continue and that one of the components is missing (c:/windows/i386/asms or something VERY similar). Wont let me finish install.

What I have tried:

3 different kinds of ram
3 different CDroms
Flashing BIOS (with a scare, no less ;))
disabling (via jumpers) the onboard sound
downloading an ISO from a friend and burning that one
different bios settings (always ending up with going back to the default ones)
putting HD on ata/66 controller

No matter what I get that SAME error message. I am not overclocking, ram is running at 100mhz (its cas2 133 rated), and I am finally at a loss. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!
