Yet another 'which one' post

Ok so I'm posting this in case the psu is causing my problems as I posted in the General Hardware forum, so I can get an early answer and take advantage of any current sales..

ECS KN1 Sli Lite
Athlon64 X2 4200 @ 2.2Ghz
2gb OCZ ram
XFX 8600gt (620 core clock version)
1x Seagate 320gb, 1x WD 120gb
DVD drive; CD drive
Floppy
TV Tuner card
4 case fans

Currently running a Raidmax 630w modular psu.

What I would like to look for is a modular psu with nice looks and a blue led, though every feature there is optional. Blue led very optional but I have a window and I like to look at nice glows lol.

At the moment though if I were to find all of that it would be quite expensive (Antec NeoPower 650 Blue for $160!), as I'm trying to look for just enough juice to power my rig for under $100, and preferably under $80.

Here's what I'm lookin at:

Antec EarthWatts 500w for $50 sale at Fry's ($54 after tax)
http://www.outpost.com/product...sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG

Rosewill RP500-2 500w for $50 at Newegg ($60 after tax + shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817182016

Thermaltake TR2 RX 450w for $65 at Newegg ($77 after tax + shipping)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16817153057

If anybody has any other good suggestions as well by all means please let me know.

In this order heres what I would get....

Antec EarthWatts 500w
Rosewill RP500-2 500w
I wouldn`t even touch the thermaltake TR2 series...

Just my opinion!!

I believe JonnyGURU has reviews the Antec and the Rosewill on his site!!

Correct. However Rosewill is a mixed bag when it comes to psu's, and JG's review is only one particular model.

Good thing it was the same model as in the OP's post. For those that care, the review author is madmat.

hmm ya I read the reviews on the jonnyguru site. I've heard people say bad stuff about other Thermaltake psu's so maybe i'll just stay away from them haha. Though I will admit that TR2 RX model does look nice and modular to boot.

So I guess it comes down to the Antec vs Rosewill. They're roughly the same price, one looks quite nice and has the blue lighting to go in my case, but the other's got the reliability (I think) and effiency, plus the Antec I can get right away at a b&m assuming they're not sold out!

I suppose I could just get a blue led fan to go with it lol

pray tell what is the relevance of that?
As long as the reviewer is competent it shouldn`t matter.
or am I missing something??

Of the ones you listed, definitely that Antec Earthwatts 500W. That unit is built by Seasonic now which is a lot better quality than the previous Antec SmartPower PSUs which were notorious for failing. You definitely won't go wrong with that Antec for that price. The other 2 PSU's you listed, don't even bother looking at those...
