I had it minimized into a 2"x2" browser window (so I can play at work 🙂), and I didn't notice the 25% Increase Bonus items... I was on level 40 and it started to get harder... After I placed a few (9) of those, it became much, much easier. 🙂

Do the 25% increase icons stack? If so... I definitely played the game wrong.

Yup, range aint worth it. Damage is helpful late game, although you can just spam red towers too.

anyone have any luck on the 'extreme maps?'
I'm getting destroyed by the second wave of yellow fliers (around level 12) on 'no left turn.'

Hint: Interest is essential.

No. Get the missile thing (top notch red thingy) - position them about 2/3 of the way down the screen, slightly to the left. EVERY upgrade: use it to increase damage. You can position the upgrades so that multiple upgrades hit multiple missile things; I had several that increased by 125%. Once you've got a few missile thingies, all that's left is to keep adding the blue thing (top row of choices) - that'll slow them down and give your missiles lots of extra time to blast them. Incredibly easy game with this strategy.

It's even easier to beat with interest -- just do the calculations and you can see why. In the later levels, I had around 10 maxed out red missile towers in the middle and still had hundreds of thousands of surplus money.

#4 for the day, and #65 for the month.

Finished that same one with $1.5 million in the bank at the end, only 8 mill points though.

this is exactly how i have been playing until the extreme maps? I dont think this strategy would work with the frog map.

DAMNIT! I was on lvl 44 doing very well, hadnt lost one life and I accidently clicked one of those stupid adds on the top and lost everything. Fun game though.

I calculated 24,416,959 as a hard upper bound (assumes 0 spending) for Switchback. The 58M score is almost certainly a hack of the score submission.

  • Score has 2 components: destroying Vectoids and bonus when starting a new level.
  • Individual Vectoids have a point value of 100 x their $ reward.
  • Bonus has a point value of 2 x interest paid for that level.
  • Speed does not affect score. Both time spent during a level and time between levels are irrelevant.

Edit to add: Played through Switchback again, taking care to minimize spending. Final score: 14,049,508 ($4,915,726 in bank).

A couple hints: Vectoids that escape reenter, so if lives are cheap (Easy maps), letting a few go instead of building towers to finish them may maximize cash. The final level does not pay interest/score bonus on completion, so spend freely.

Edit again to add: Played through yet again, and submitted score on Candystand: 14,754,820 ($5,257,632).

If a Vectoid escapes, its point value is deducted from the score in addition to losing 1 life. If it is destroyed during the next pass, its point value is added to the total, for a net change of zero. The Bonus Vectroids escape and reenter normally (they don't lose their Bonus status).
