The dude says that my auction is "deceiving", and he wants his money back. I told him that the auction CLEARLY states "SOLD AS IS" and "I am unable to test them."

So he buys them, says that they only last 12 minutes and he wants a refund. He says that becasue we both have 100% positive feedback, he doesn't want to exchange negatives.... which I understand.

What should I do? I don't wanna just give him his money back (although I could). I mean the auction says SOLD AS IS! Ans yes, ALL 5 Lights DO light up on the battery when you press the button.

BUT, you knew these battries sucked, theats why they were replaced. YOu are decpetive as you say you have no way of testing them, but you in fact do have a way (work).

then again, this guy is an idiot to think people would sell perfectlly functioning batteries for such a price.

when I read I cannot test them, I read they are broken.

Any suggestions?

wow.

you pull stuff out of the "bad" box at work and sale them on ebay? you may not be breaking any laws but i think you should be kicked off ebay.

your auction was very deceiving. you KNOW they are bad yet say you have no way to test them wich is a flat out lie.

It's not the BAD box.... it is the UNKNOWN box. Also, I have no way of testing them. I do not personally (or at work) own a laptop to test them. I have gotten great feedback from a few of the people saying that the batteries were great.

I understand where I went wrong. I need to put in the auction that the batteries are of unknown status and may not work at expected levels. The batteries do work, they just don't work like they are new. There IS a need for used batteries, even if they only last 20 minutes. If all you need is a battery to last 20 minutes while your power goes out or while you are testing a laptop, it is much more efficient to buy a battery that will do so, for only $20.

I will correct my future auctions... but I will not cease to sell used, unknown status batteries.

There is no reason to stop saleing them.

But there is a nead to be upfront in the auction and tell people they were in teh "bad" box. you are being decitful in the auction.

but in ur original post, u labelled it the "bad" box.

and how do you know that all the lights will light up if you don't have anything to test the batteries with?

I said "bad" box, but I meant "unknown" box. And the batteries have a little LED indicator on it that shows the status of the battery. You just press the button and the 5 LED lights light up as much as it is charged. All 5 of them lit up (in this case).

I understand where I went wrong. I need to put in the auction that the batteries are of unknown status and may not work at expected levels.

but you know *something* about their status - they were discarded by someone else.

Yes, but if your grandpa gave you a perfectly good looking laptop and told you it "isn't working right", would you take his word for it (no harm intended on your grandpa :D)? That is what I am dealing with.

I certainly wouldn't sell it to someone else without mentioning that I was told that it wasn't working right

ok now you are trying to justify it. they are in a discarded box not in the "might be something wrong" box. Odds are almost every one of them is bad. This is not Grandpa not knowing that something may or may not work. It is people knowing full well the items dont work and you takeing them out of the "bad" box and saleing them.

Continue saleing them. but put in the auction that they are from the discarded box and May not work right.

So, here is my summary:

Seller is taking equipment from work. Strike 1.
Seller is taking the equipment, from his work, to sell. Strike 2.
Seller knows the equipment has an incredible chance of being faulty, since most people don't discard good working equipment. Even big companies will have liquidation sales if there is any way of recouping money. Strike 3.

Try to convince yourself all you want, but you know you are selling bad hardware (or, most likely bad hardware).

AS IS generally refers to it's WORKING - but might have damage, scuff marks, etc.

You should have clearly stated in your auction: "I do not know if these work, they are from a used discard bin. There is a chance they work, but I cannot guarantee that."

Just my .02. But it already sounds like you have it all rationalized out in your head that what you did was cool.

In the meantime, can I have the buyer's email address? If he bought that crap, I'm sure I have some stuff I could sell him. "As Is" toilet paper, etc.

As is does NOT mean broken. Yer scum. Make things right and give him his money back. Dont do it again.

Think if a restaurant sells hamburgers As is, fully knowing that they were full of disease. Its not their fault right? It was as is!

I think "probably will not work right" is more accurate.

If my grandpa gave it to me for free, heck, i'd take it and see for myself if it was working.

if he said it isn't working right and tried selling it to me, then no i would not take it.
