Well, what the article says is, the weapons that were found by the Danish and uhhh? teams were not filled with mustard gas. Czar originally reported this from a foreign language source. Even that source was very cautious about the possibility that the weapons contained mustard gas like compounds. I'll edit this to post a link to the originall post if I can find the the original post.

Czar's Original Thread. I could have bumped the original thread but, personally, I hate it when the threads get to be multi-page as Czar's original post is.

Czar, who had the original post on this subject, has posted a followup at Czar's second post on this subject.. I think that's a better thread on which to persue this subject.

I mean, after all, the subject titled "Yet Another Sad Day for Republicans" could cover anything.

Awwwww, poor Bush bleaters ... I guess they'll have to call it a liberation after all. It's kinda like helping the poor, by giving them money and doing everything for them, because lord knows the Iraqis are too pathetic and weak to help themselves. Just like the poor people in the U.S. Oh man, the internal conflict amongst conservative republican war-mongers must be overwhelming . . .

"The villagers said they fled the area and returned after the battle to find all their cattle dead and the area littered with human bodies, Michelsen said. He quoted the villagers as saying that none of the carcasses or bodies bore gunshot wounds, but all were bleeding from mouth and nose.

"This is a clear indication of chemical weapons use," he said. "

re - title.

No, it's actually not a "sad" day. It's another great day here on God's green earth.:) So some shells didn't contain WMDs - like you wouldn't have dismissed them anyway(have you read the other thread on this?;)) And actually that is a GOOD thing because those people in the area don't have to worry about the chemicals and the troops don't have to worry either - those two are VERY GOOD reasons to be happy about this.:)

wow--how noble your thoughts are, cad

lets just forget we destroyed a country and killed thousands of innocent iraqi & american lives over this WMD lie

lets just be glad that none have been found

that's a GREAT spin on it - why not go to each of our dead american soldiers' families and explain that one to them! perhaps they'll serve you tea and crimpets

Now you neo-cons know why the discovery of those mortars didn't get front-page headlines. Even the MEDIA knew it'd turn out as a false alarm.

No - it is actually YOU who is spinning this. My points are on-topic and legitimate to the case at hand. Yours is extrapolated emotional rhetoric. Thanks for playing.

Villagers told the troops that they had found about 400 or more some years ago and thrown them in the Tigris river, Michelsen said.
!! now we need to go search the tigris river! no telling whats down there!

We basically destroyed Iraq - its oil, electrical, water, and other civilian infrastructures. Have you been asleep for the past 10 months?!! lol

I dont think a thousand Americans have died, only hundreds. My statement was no less valid, lumping innocent American and Iraqi lives together. As even ONE death over an unjust/lied cause is 100% tooooooo many.

Not a single ONE American life should have been taken for George's unjust Iraqi adventure.

Yep - ignore what I said and just extrapolate it into some emotional rhetoric. Nice try dave - but it doesn't play.

from what ive been told by my soldier buddies, and from what ive read in the news, we've basically rebuilt Iraq from the ground up! we've got their water running, got their oil flowing, got their schools and hospitals open, got Iraqi security forces going [army and police], and even a sense of entrepreneurship [sp?] seems to be spreading.

tell me again how thats destroying their country?

Yeah, this is pretty sad. I guess I knew in my heart those shells would turn out to be yet another false alarm.
For those who think we alone destroyed Iraq, Saddam did a pretty fair job of this himself.
Not that this gives the U.S. the moral authority to remove him,. But I'm not sad to see him go.

That and the shells are from an area that has saw a lot of fighting in the 80's could of also been another reason. Hell they are still finding live Russian landmines and shells in Afghanistan and WW2 shells and landmines in certian parts of Europe as we speak.

Here's a nice quote to think about.

The flat muddy terrain where they were found was the scene of intense fighting during the Iran-Iraq war. The villagers told the Danes that one bloody battle was fought in the area in 1984 for seven days.

The villagers said they fled the area and returned after the battle to find all their cattle dead and the area littered with human bodies, Michelsen said. He quoted the villagers as saying that none of the carcasses or bodies bore gunshot wounds, but all were bleeding from mouth and nose.

Yes, we've been purposely destroying Iraq. We just asked for billions of dollars for reconstruction.

Yet another sad day for Republicans? LOL, what rock have you been sleeping so soundly under? Because I want to start napping there.

The sad days are few and far between for the GOP... but a dime a dozen for democrats. Just to catch you up on the times here.

How about 'with knives, guns, ropes, water and sexual force'? You are a fool to the obvious. :disgust:

I'll just save everyone the trouble of going through the ensuing debate:

Sane person - "So we went to war to uncover mass graves?"
Warmonger - "No but it was obvious Saddam was a mass murderer and brutal dictator."
Sane person - "But there are quite a few brutal dictators all over the world, why don't we invade their country?"
Warmonger - "Because we have to make an example of someone"
Sane person - "So a unilateral, pre-emptive land invasion is the only way to do that"
Warmonger - "Yes"

Here the sane person throws his arms in the air and goes to bed.

Hitler wasn't exactly an iminent threat to the USA. Sure he invaded his neighbors and killed millions of people, including his own people; but he never attacked us. Why in the hell would we go to war against him? A war that cost our country more men and money than any other in US history. Think about it... or are you too brainwashed to see the justification?

Actually from the 4 semesters of college US history courses I took, I remember that Hitler actually declared war on us before we declared it on him. Germany and Japan were in a pact, and when our Congress declared war on Japan (yes, they actually followed the Constitution back then), it started a chain effect which led to the US entering the European war.

I was trying to keep it simple. By declaring war on Japan, we knew that Germany, in return, would be forced to declare war on us. In other words, the U.S. effectively declared war on both Germany and Japan on December 8th.

it's a good thing the liberals of today weren't running the country during WWII:

"Germany has declared war against us, but they haven't attacked us yet. Perhaps Hitler is bluffing. If not, we can always try the appeasement route. Not to mention, the League of Nations hasn't given us permission to act. I guess we'll just have to sit back and hope nothing bad happens."
