Sigh... he did brake. That's why he wrecked. Watch the video again, the brake lights clearly come on and stay on, which was his undoing.
And yes, the ass end was sliding a bit right while he was burning out. All he had to do was counter-steer a little and feather the gas a bit and none of this would have happened.
