Is it possible to buy an actual WWII colt .45? It would be a cool peice of history to own. Is there anywhere to get surplus semi-antique weapons like this?

Yes you can. There were various manufacturers of the 1911, some with a great deal more collectibility than others. Prices are all over the place, and I don't know much information to pass along to you, other than if you are serious about owning one, I would do your homework before purchasing one.
