I origionally thought PS2 only had composite and S-video.... now I see that it may have component?

Can anyone verify that PS2 has component video? I can't seem to turn up the info anywhere.... I see Compusa is selling the sony brand component video cables, but it says for PS2 use only.... cant I get normal component cables? or is it another propritary sony thing

PS2 has component cables available for it. I have them. They are $30. It is a proprietary Sony cable, but other manufacturers sell them. You can not use a standard component cable.

You can get them cheaper at Best Buy, if I remember correctly.

There's another adaptor (just like the S-Video & composite) but it has component video.

Not proprietary Sony, there's always 3rd-party. And the ever-present Monster Cable. :p
If your TV can handle it - why not. :D

Again there are component cables and they are worth it! THe jump between s-video and component isn't amazing, but significant.

I gotta go see the German tax authorities on Friday... I had 30% of every paycheck taken for taxes.... about $2000 worth.... Hopefully they will give some back cause I'm an American student....then I'd really bet set cause I could get some games and maybe a theatre system, cause I really dont wanna have to use the TV speakers....

I have components on the PS2 hooked up to a 36" WEGA.
Text and graphics are noticeably sharper and more vivid.
A good investment.

My Monster Component cable for PS2 sh!t itself, and now I'm trying to get it exchanged. They transfer to the CSR for my area, and I always get his machine, and the pr!ck never returns his calls. 3 times in the past ~month. Argh :frown:

Edit: But it looked so much better than composite while it was working :D
