So I just sold one of my BlizzCon tickets on Ebay but it went to some guy with 0 history/ratings with an email from the Phillipines and the "verified" shipping address is to Las Vegas.

The money doesn't clear until August 1st but I am able to change the name on the tickets until August 14th. I wanna know is it possible for them to take the money back due to fraud or whatever reason after I withdraw it to my bank account?

this is why i simply don't allow people with 0 feedback to bid on items.

or if that isn't an option (been YEARS since i last used that pile of shit) i would just monitor it and manually remove it.

actually ... i take that back. i tried to sell a ps4 at launch because i had 2 of them, and the winner bid at the very last second with 0 feedback and had absolutely no intention of ever paying. he registered that day and wouldn't respond to any emails. ended up just sending it back to amazon.

fuck ebay, such a terrible service now a days.

It was a Buy It Now and it was "paid" automatically. I sent him an email asking for the name on the ID of the person picking up the ticket, email, and gamer name but nothing yet.

I've always wondered about this. I used to sell a lot on Ebay in the early days(100's of items a day) and never really had any issues, but really haven't sold anything in the last 10-15 years. Now you always hear about all the above type of scenarios which makes me want to avoid selling on there. Makes me wonder how much it actually happens, or if it is just related to certain item types because everybody and their brother has stores on there now, so obviously it still works.

I buy all the time with no issues though.

I googled the name of the verified PayPal account. It's some retired guy that lists his age as 65+...

I mean if it's fraud I want to know ASAP so I still have time to sell these tickets by August 14th.

In your PayPal does it say seller protection: eligible?

If so I would personally ship but only to verfied address. Remember if it's over $250 to get signature confirmation.

yeah that was the problem with the PS4. the market for making $$ off of them was very limited. a week after launch they weren't selling for anything and ebay was flooded, which is why i returned it.

tried the 2nd high bidder things but never heard back from them either.

I can imagine amazon's perspective: we tried to sell all these ps4's on launch day but these douchebag scalpels bought them all with no intention of keeping them. They just flipped what they could and returned the rest to us. Fuck eBay resellers.

Don't do the name change.

Do a name change AT Blizzcon. Keep it under your name until then. I've sold tickets to Blizzcon the previous 3 years. It's easy to do a name change at the event (lines have been getting better over the years). Or just give him the badge with your name still on it, it's no big deal. Names aren't checked as long as you have a badge around your neck.

Or sell it to me for face value because I really wanted to go this year but got screwed :(

or, as in my case, i had it preordered the second they put them up after announced at E3, to keep and use, but won one from taco bell, so decided to keep my preorder and try and make a few bucks off the ps4 from amazon.

Yes it does say eligible. What does that mean?

The thing with these tickets are that I can change the name on them up until August 14th. The money clears August 1st. Can they pull the money back say August 20th? If so I'd be screwed.

Shit can ALWAYS happen with Paypal. The possibilities are endless for you to get screwed.

Don't change the name.

read his post again. he said preordered with no intention of keeping them. i definitely had an intention of keeping it when i preordered it. i didn't win one from taco bell until like a few weeks or so prior to the console launching.

Because he didn't buy the ticket with the intent to resell?

As someone that has previously scalped Blizzcon tickets....

I will say that doesn't make it any better :p

There are plenty of sites where people post/request Blizzcon tickets for face value only. If you're putting it on ebay, you're looking to make an extra buck.

It generally means you are protected as long as you follow eBay:payPal shipping guidelines and they will eat a loss in case of fraud.
