See if you can determine if the rumor (Tank Guy mentions in another post) about AMD discontinuing the skt 939 Optys is true.

Can you link me? This article is specifically dealing with a supposed email from AMD claiming that 939 Opteron was never intended for desktop boards and they (AMD) want to do something about it.

He said the AMD guy told him that there will indeed be no more shipments through retailers or distributors. Only full systems integrators will get them from now on, for us in pre-built high end server configurations.

As I said in the other thread, this means the gray market OEM chips will stick around for a bit. I am working on more details.

Happy turkey!

Opteron 165
ASrock Dual
2430 on air, 51C load. Chip will go higher it seems, but this board doesn't like warm reboots with highly OC'd chip or RAM... BIOS flash time.... 🙂

Wont post above 274HTT, unstable with 1T MA above 233HTT

That's because there's a cap on HTT max on the bios you are using.

I don't recall what bios you need, but there's one out there that removes the HTT cap.

I'd have Opty 146 results, but I don't know where mine is. It's in shipment limbo.
🙁

I just returned from vacation yesterday and my 175 was waiting for me. I popped it in and after some trial and error I primed 8 hours @ 2664 (9x296) but at 1.525v. I was hoping to get this at stock voltage. 🙁 I got stepping CCBWE 0541 RPMW which is supposedly not a great OC'er. My CPU temps were ~31c idle at stock speed and ~38c idle at OC. Full load OC is ~47C so far.

Opteron 148
Asus A8N-E

Got it to ~2800mhz, but I can't seem to get it higher than 2845mhz. Erg, this is being a pain in the butt.

opteron 146 cabye 0540 fpmw at 2.8 ghz with 1.37 vcore
asus a8v deluxe
board wont let me run higher with the broken mem dividers waiting to get my new vid card to hook up my dfi ultra-d (fried my 6800 gt 🙁 )

Anyone able to help me figure out how to OC mine?
I have a 144 on an ASUS A8N-E
This is the first ASUS board I've bought.

kris what specifically are you going to talk about in your article? Can you give a list of the overview, then we can help give information on specifics.
